I think X-23 or Dust or Armor have a good chance of making the line-up

I think they could potentially mix up the casts a little bit. Dust and M would be good. Anole and Rockslide perhaps. But I personally would prefer if they kept to the cast of the 80s comic.

I sure hope it's an actual spin off and features all new characters but I've said before I have a feeling it would be a continuation post apocalypse. My idea is that after the events of apocalypse Nightcrawler will leave and go do his own thing. Beast will also go off. Prof X plus Cyclops, Jean, Storm, Angel and Jubilee can recruit Cannonball and Mirage. Selene can be the main big bad. She becomes obsessed with reforming the now dead Hellfire Club. So she can be queen and be worshipped as she has her whole existence. This is a way to bring back Magneto as she tracks him down to get information. He doesn't side with her and goes and help Xavier with the new mutants and to take down Selene and her recently reformed Hellfire Club. I have this idea that Selene could be after Mirage which is when her grandfather is killed and Prof X helps her and takes her in.

We can see Mirage trying to learn her powers and focus them but she also makes mistakes like revealing some dark fears of X-Men. Could be a great scene like in Avengers with Scarlet Witch. Have mirage project Storms worst fear. Or Magneto's even.

I liked the New X-Men series, but for this film, I prefer the classic line-up.

I don't see why you can't throw a bone or two to the newer generation of fans.You only get one of these movies every 2/3 years.

X-23 may be deemed too similar to Wolverine/Lady Deathstrike. Armor and Dust have powers that haven't been seen in the x-men movies so far.

By the looks of those pics, Boone is knowledgeable enough to make a character line-up that will appease some.

If they mix-up the teams, keep most of the originals in main roles, and maybe Husk or Icarus in smaller roles...again, I love my sibling characters...

Nothing has been said about * only * the original roster being used, so I think any character who appeared in New Mutants Vol. 1 (1982-1991) is more than likely to be considered for inclusion in the movie. Blink is also an outside possibility, IMO, given that she's already shown up in DoFP.

Hmmm I feel like if theres gonna be a New Mutants film... I immediately think of Cannonball, Mirage and Sunspot....characters that wont be given much importance in the X-Men films but a New Mutants film. I also feel like Karma is a must. Magma maybe not because of her powers. Wolfsbane would fit well in X-Force. Magik and Limbo. I feel like they are sequel materials not for the first film.

If you guys go and see my post in the apocalypse news thread I think that young girl in the picture Bryan posted surrounded by what looks like Vietnamese soldiers, is Karma. Also Bryan an owl being guided by a mutant. And we know she has those abilities. They could be introducing her in the movie. Could be the end and we see Xavier finding her. James has already shaved his head and that would go with filming some scenes that are towards the end of the movie. If that's the case then what I've been saying is going to be, and that new mutants will be a continuation of Apocalypse. Time will tell.

So Boone and Lee have supposedly started writing (or already written) per Boone's tweet explaining why his comics were on the floor. It might be nothing more than a draft turned into Fox or they already have a draft turned in hence why Boone has the job. I'm still wondering what the timeline is on Boone's other projects though because this could be the first legit spinoff that's not a solo with a pretty legit director and I'm really looking forward to it.
