^ Eh, I don't mind a little bit of maturity to the story. These are children who have had to grow up way to fast. They can avoid showing things that are too bad without having to change the backstory.

I agree, Mike! I've also been reading the original New Mutants comic. Their personalities all go so well with each other. I really enjoy reading Rahne lol... poor girl. But I would definitely want Magik as part of the core team and driving the plot.

I think Selene as a villain makes a lot of sense and that would fit in well with Illyana or Amara. Together, they may be a bit redundant.

Still, if they cast Colossus for Deadpool and her sister for this, there would be a good opportunity for some crossover.

We all pretty much agree on The New Mutants but what about the villain group? Who should be the Hellions?

I doubt we're getting anything connected to the Hellfire Club given the way Sebastian Shaw and Emma Frost are already done with. The description is something of the more mystical side, so I'm expecting Selene instead. She's sufficient to fight a team of characters because she'll just make some rock monsters for them to fight.

I wish First Class would have done a better job establishing that it was an elite circle of influential millionaire mutants. I don't think the group is lost forever (well aside from Emma and Shaw). That being said, I can't see them being in this movie. Unless they incorporate Roberto's dad into the plot.

They haven't really cast anyone to be colossus from the looks of it, it's just some mo cap guy

When I see their making New Mutants, the Deadpool #98 obv comes to mind, maybe Deadpool is a villain and Cable is one of the main characters.

why do they need a villian group? I think they will be fine fighting a single villian like Donald Pierce, Demon Bear, Magus, Belasco, etc... I dont think they need a villian group counterpart like the Hellions, at least not yet

Because his scenes are in metal form. Doesn't mean they don't need to cast someone to play his voice or there aren't scenes with him powered down that either haven't been filmed or are filmed indoors. For either a voice actor or unfilmed scenes, the actor need not be hired yet. It doesn't preclude them from planning ahead and creating a little bit of synergy.

By the time they hire an actor there won't be much for him to do, unless you mean them hiring someone for new mutants but that won't be the same on for deadpool then

He does speak, he is described in the script as being Russian but obviously they have a mo cap guy doing all the work right now so They may just get someone in to do the voice unless the mo cap guy is Russian

They already filmed scenes where he has dialogue with deadpool with the mo cap guy

Still, they can cast someone with an eye to Deadpool sequels. Even assuming they aren't planning on showing Colossus in human form in the movie, it would still be in their interests to cast it well.

Josh Boone is saying that there will be big news on The Stand soon. We'll probably be able to better estimate when New Mutants is supposed to drop after we find out what's going on with that one.

What's Fox's schedule right now? Obviously, there's X-Men: Apocalypse and Deadpool filming. Deadpool is February and I assume XM:A is summer 2016. Do they have any announced movie slots for unknown movies this could fill or announced movies (e.g., Gambit) that might get in the way?

There's an open Fox Marvel adaptation spot in 2018 on the schedule, though the schedule is on shaky ground right now. I could definitely see Gambit moving, and if a Fantastic Four sequel actually happens it will definitely move (the World War Z sequel recently took the same date).

October 7 2016. I don't see it making that date at this point, but if there's really news on The Stand coming the date's probably too soon for New Mutants. Fox may just abandon the date.

Well it's not great that the movie can't seem to find a director. When they get one, a script rewrite is still probably going to happen as well (fairly typical to adjust some stuff after you get a director). It's entirely possible the movie will stick to that date, but it'll be on a pretty tight schedule at this point.

I want Cary Fukunaga to direct Gambit.

The film would definitely have to be postponed. It (as in the Stephen King story) seems to be coming along.

Interesting. I could see Fukunaga doing a comic adaptation under the right circumstances.
