and then wolfsbane is well a werewolf and warlock is extraterrestrial

it keeps it very different

Didn't think Warlock would ever be included since he seemed way too out there. If Boone is using Warlock, this could mean other aliens like the Shi'ar aren't that far off perhaps.

Otherwise, excellent lineup. Loving the diversity.

With Anya Taylor Joy liking the Magik photo, and Maisie seemingly knowing about the project and Josh tweeting it, looks very accurate.

Sounds awesome. Fantastic roster so that report pretty much is true then. So are we still expecting possibly James and Alexandra to be apart of this? Cause they could take on mentor type roles which would be awesome.

And casting for the other characters is going to be fun. If Maisie and Anya are what we are expecting it's gonna be stellar.

I'm glad we are getting what sounds like the classic line up.

I'm not a fan of them switching up different generations as we lose some of the great relationships from the comics which could be adapted to the films.

That wouldn't be shocking. There was always a core group of New Mutants and then characters they seemed to not really know what to do with - Doug, Amara, and Xi'an were in the latter group.

Not really. It's likely Sunspot would be a Brazilian character who gets super strength from the sun. Magma will be a Nova Roman character who controls the Earth's molten forces. They don't have a lot in common except hemisphere of origin.

he's comic relief. I can easily see the audience falling in love with him

Still gonna hold out hope for Magma.

Not me. She would be best saved for a sequel. She has a pretty complex backstory. The whole thing with Nova Roma and Selene can serve as its own plot. At the same time, I dont think they should bypass that as its what made Amara unique and not generic (ugh to the Alison Crestmore retcon). I dont think that can fit into a film when you are already trying to introduce a bunch of other kids.

My only concern is having Warlock without Cypher. They IMO are a packaged deal. Doug's power is what made their friendship perfectly suited for each other and helped give Warlock a strong link to the group. I hope if Warlock is in the film, that Doug is as well, although I fear they will skip him since his power is kinda boring and would translate onto film worse than in the books. I can see them merging his character with an existing one like Dani. Like expanding her limited TP to allow her to form an empathic connection to him.

Aw I hope Cypher is in it too, especially if Warlock is. They're basically a package deal, and I think having a mutant with less "cinematic"/combat-inclined powers could be a neat idea. Ties in with the younger mutants, angsty vibe they're probably going for.

But don't you both think that 7 characters in the first team movie is a bit much? especially we don't any of these characters in the X-Men film series yet. We got 7 in the first X-Men movie and Storm paid the price and there's also a villain to introduce.

which is why Warlock shouldnt be in this. My ideal starting cast would be

Sunspot
Dani
Cannonball
Wolfsbane
possibly Magik

I would only go for Warlock/Doug if Magik isnt there as a 5th

7 in first X-men movie? I count 5 on the team. Wolverine, Storm, Cyclops, Rogue, Jean. Outside of Wolverine and Rogue, they all felt sidelined. I think that had more to do with the Wolverine obsession and less about # of characters

So glad this film is happening hopefully they give Generation X another go too if this is successful enough and Jubs doesn't die in Apocalypse.

Not sure, why would Boone tease Warlock this early if he's just appearing in a post-credits scene.

But i also think this roster might not be final yet.
