Am I the only one that thinks this would make a great TV series? It could follow the story of Cannonball, Boom Boom and the rest of the young students at Xavier's School for the Gifted.

Nothing X-Men would work on TV in a live action format. It's FAR too expensive. And don't use the Heroes defense, because alot of major characters don't have powers that are very visual.

The only ones that I can think of that have visual powers would be Peter, Elle, Tracy, Nathan (and he barely ever flies, Peter flies more than him. Hell West in season 2 flew more than him) and Sylar. That just being the people CURRENTLY on the show.

The other characters have powers that use rather cheap effects. Too many of the X-Men/Spin-Off X-Men characters have powers that are too expensive for a TV budget.

You're kidding, right? All hell keeps breaking loose between Sylar and the Petrelli's and you're telling me this would be too expensive? The original New Mutants characters outside of Cannonball, Boom Boom & Sunspot were pretty simple.

Smallville regularly have characters use superpowers so I see no reason why a New Mutants show wouldn't work. Special effects have moved on alot since the bad Generation X tv pilot in the 90s.

There are some X-Men formulas that would work on TV. For instance, the original 5, who didn't have extremely visual powers, and used them sparingly as well. The current X-Force and a made-for-tv lineup of current X-Men could also work. Exiles even.

But New Mutants?
You have to pay human torch money every time Sunspot or Magma lights up or Cannonball does anything.
You have to pay top end Smallville money every time Meltdown does her thing.
You have to have full werewolf costume and stunts every time Wolfsbane does anything.

This is in addition to Moonstar's glowies and anyone else I've forgotten. New Mutants are expensive. Too expensive for TV, imho.

And don't even think about the New New New Mutants with their electric speedster, dust girl, and so on...

This is how I feel.
