Heh, I remember my dad letting me see movies like Alien, Predator and True Lies at that age. But then again I was never easily influenced by anything even today.

thats way too young to watch the punish... let alone a rater R movie imo... thats alot of blood and violence... hell the family massacre even shocked me and i was 19

Please. A little bit of violence hrt nobody. Besides, he knows its acting. I make sure to watch the makings of stuff. You think I'd let him watch s*** thinking its real?? C'mon.

Thats why he's not scared of s*** like zombies and Jason or Freddy Krueger. Now, those horor flicks he hasn't seen but when he's with me at Hastings or whereever and sees the figs he asks me questions. I'm not leaving my kid in the dark about it.

I'm decensitised to it too.....I've been watching movies like that since forever....it's just movies.


I've become decensitised to it in Realy Life too......I've seen a human body burned alive. I've seen stabbing victims, I've seen some nasty car acidents, I've killed a deer with my bear hands...well my foot actually......the animal stuff I don't like.

It was the fire at the pig farm that made me quit the volenteer fire dept back home...I've seen a lot.

Oh yeah, forgot Braveheart and Total Recall. I also started playing games like Silent Hill and Resident Evil at about 10 or 11.

I work in a ER. I've seen plenty. I've seen one of my good friends after a rollover MVA. That was probably the worst of it all, he was a good friend.

not nessicarily.. but typically desensatization gets stronger and stronger... you grow less affected by things the more you see it... when it gets to the point that things that should bother people... example being able to sit through rotten.com and not flinch ... then ya its a problem lol

Yeah, been there. I don't flinch at all, but it doesn't mean I don't find it disgusting or disturbing. Same with the death videos. I'm desensitized to it, but it doesn't change the fact that I don't like seeing those kind of things in real life.

Of course, any sense of enjoyment to those kind of things in reality really means someone's ****ed in the head.

He's afraid of the dark and I tell my children about strangers and all that. Plus they learn that stuff at school. What I want is for him to realize whats a fake monster and whats a real monster like strangers that can kidnap children and such. They need to distinguish from the two.

As for the Punisher, its fake. He knows it. He knows guns are dangerous. I'm not about to have my children live in a f***in bubble. There's guns and s*** in cartoons, so whats the difference in a movie??

As for the Columbine kids they probably didn't have anyone willing to help them distinguish right and wrong.

well as long as you really teach them... especially because alot of parents today seem to just expect school to teach them... i worry about alot of kids these days actually i miss growing up and watching the good nickelodeon and fox kids.. and shows like full house, step by step, sister sister, boy meets world, home improvement, etc... theres hardly any good family tv show on these days... ones try today, but they always eventually tackle very adult issues

well as long as you really teach them... especially because alot of parents today seem to just expect school to teach them... i worry about alot of kids these days actually i miss growing up and watching the good nickelodeon and fox kids.. and shows like full house, step by step, sister sister, boy meets world, home improvement, etc... theres hardly any good family tv show on these days... ones try today, but they always eventually tackle very adult issues

You should worry. Not because of school but because alot of parents don't take the time to talk to there kids about things. You can only put stuff off so long before things need to be talked about.

umm need to wanting to watch that stuff isnt reality though... i dont see why a person would wanna watch a hanging or beheading... or purposely looking at mutilations.. i can understand from a doctors point of view, hell they have to be desensatised... but just a regular joe.. kinda is wierd

agrees... i think i was lucky.. my parents.. ya they taught me well.. but i kinda learned most on my own... i was always "afraid" of getting into trouble, or dissapointing my parents, so that kinda kept me away from any trouble. I also kinda thought alot... i wasnt an average kid hell i still arn't average... my parents always look to me for advice now, lol im kinda very wise for my age i guess... i see things people dont... and its gonna sound wierd but im kinda an empath... i can read a person very well and usually tell what makes them tick.. and why they do the things they do... as well as feel for a person more then a normal person should.. i always worry about other people feelings and typically put others before myself... sometimes its a gift... sometimes it feels like a curse.. i think because of it i have trouble finding love, or having fun ... im always " the friend" wich kinda sucks
