So I have these two nice glass display cabinets I got from Ikea. They have three glass shelves each. I was setting up figures on them so I can get pictures online to show here. I was using sticky tack (a sticky "silly puddy" like material) to help them stand up on the slippery glass. I already set up my X-Men on the top shelf and was just finishing the second shelf with all of my Iron Man figures. My big glob of sticky tack was on the third shelf down along with Phoenix (who had fell over and was going to get more sticky tack) and Ultimate Iron Man, who was getting prepped to be put up. I put a slight amount of pressure on the shelf with my hand to tear off a piece of sticky tack and suddenly the bottom shelf completely shattered. The damn thing just exploded. Phoenix and Iron Man were buried in glass. Luckily it was just the bottom shelf but I may not be able to get a replacement very easily.

I may not reccommend these shelves anymore.

Call Ikea...they should send you a replacement....or at any rate you will be able to get one through them

im not fond of them anyway.. its kinda difficult to do add fliers to glass... but next time look for a glass case that the bottoms of the shelves themself are not glass

I called a little bit ago. I have to bring the broken glass (all 5 million pieces or so) and the receipt and they'll see if they have a spare shelf they can give me, which they may or may not have.

Just another reason why I am not a huge fan of Ikea....that and the only one here is about a 40 minute drive from here....prolly more......it is on the complete oposite side of the city

It's a shame you want them transparent, there are releatively cheap shelves at Walmart that work just fine....I like mine...I just wish they had more shelves.

I have some $10 shelves from walmart but since we're selling the house I can't really put anything permanent up. I had them down at school but I can't do anything with them now. The glass ones look nice though. Just easy to break.

ya... it is a shame you want the bottoms to be glass... you honestly wont notice much, in face it will help in some ways.. because the bottom shelves wont have wierd shadows going on from the figures above it

I am also a fan of these wall mountable shelves from Home Depot, they are about 6 bucks Canadian, they are about 3 feet by 10 inches or so....I like them, but they are permanent.

I find it's harder for figs to stand on Glass....I assume you do as well hence the fun tack.

They are a lot harder to stand. My first attempt was with most of my X-Men figures. Within an hour, the only ones still standing were Colossus, Bishop, and Beast. Iceman, Rogue, Gambit, Wolverine, Shadowcat (who was hugging Colossus), and X-23 all fell down. Oh, and Emma.

To top it all off, for some reason when I went to stand up X-23 today, her arm fell off.

if ya gotta add a center support you might as well get wood or metal to replace the whole bottom wtih... lol with wood at least you could put small nails in for fliers and such

Yep...your shelves look pretty but they are made for Pewter Wizards and ****....not figs.

I'm not sure if you know the kind of shelves I have. I'll have pictures up later. Or look up the "detlof" at Ikea.

so crap. I sent this guy some stuff on fwoosh and the DC number says it was delivered. He PMed me and said that it did, but he said he never actually came. I'm hoping it's at the PO office or something. But I didn't pay for anything that would make it so he'd have to sign it. I think the PO screwed up. God I hope the PO finds his stuff.

he said he checked the DC number and according to the DC, it was delivered saturday. But he said he never recieved anything. He said the girl at his apartment complex said she never got it and he called the PO and they don't have it either.

How could the PO say it was delivered when it really wasn't? That's bull. I hope they end up sending to him tomorrow.


There's no way they'd send it back to me is there? I mean, that wouldn't make any sense.
