The 2011 NYCC is still a little over two months away, but I wanted to get the discussion started now. My main concern at the moment is accommodations. Has anyone been to NYCC in the past? And, if so, do you have any recommendations for hotels in the area? I'm more concerned with price than proximity. I'll be travelling with 8 or 9 friends, so the cheaper the better, since we're going to need 2 or 3 rooms at least.

i live in NYC...where is the comic con located?

I was at the NYCC for 1 day back in October of 2010. I'll be honest, as awesome as it was to meet Todd Mcfarlane, John Romita Jr, etc, the place was a HUGE mess. NOBODY kne where anything was and couldn't help anybody.

A cursory glance at Priceline shows a lot of dirt cheap motels in the Newark Airport area. Now, you probably get what you pay for, but on a college student budget, it'll have to do. I'm just wondering if anyone is familiar with the public transportation system. It's probably easier to take a train every day instead of trying to deal with the Lincoln Tunnel and NYC traffic.

I go every year. But I ride the train up and back on Saturday.

Awesome. I'll finally get to see the Hype-famous Mr. Terrific in person. :woot: What should I be on the lookout for - Mr. Terrific, Blade, something new?

The Javits Center.

proximity does not matter here...Look for the cheapest hotel in manhattan. You can get to the Javits center easy from almost any train. It is 3-4 block walk after taking the E train to 34th street.

Hotels are throughout the area because Times Square is close, but I imagine those are more expensive. Just look for any hotel in manhattan and you are good to get to this comic con

You don't think we'd be better served trying to stay in Jersey and riding into the city each day? I'd imagine the Manhattan hotels (even the cheap ones) are still pricier.

Sure...If you can get a hotel in Jersey City then go for it, you can take the train directly into 34th and just walk to javits.

It makes sense. You also have a big group which means the cost wont be that much
