The next Megaman game?

Maverick Hunter X was a 3D remake. And a kickass one. And Vile as a playable character was all kinds of awesome.

The Maverick Hunter game was supposed to reboot the entire X series, and they would've made more remakes, but Maverick Hunter didn't sell well enough.

Thats too bad. I would have loved to see X2 and X3 get the same treatment.

Mega Man 9 just takes me back to coming home afer school to run and play the newest one that I got. :wow:

Best stage and music, period.

Next Mega Man game is Megaman 10, featuring the same NES graphics they used in 9. Ugh! I was hoping they'd abandon that and go for a more modern approach

The latest, upcoming issue of Nintendo Power has revealed that Capcom is working on the official sequel to Mega Man 9: Mega Man 10 is coming to the WiiWare channel early next year.

This revelation of this sequel is completely unsurprising considering Capcom's strategy of producing many sequels once an engine is built (Mega Man Battle Network, Phoenix Wright, and Street Fighter II, anyone?). Mega Man 10, according to the preview Nintendo Power released on the web today, will use the same 8-bit style that Mega Man 9 utilized earlier this year.

Expect new levels, new challenges, and new enemies, like Sheep Man, a boss character that will shock players with its electrical attack. Mega Man will be playable as will Proto Man, but the preview teases a third playable character that's being kept under wraps.

Watch for more on Mega Man 10 for Wii in the coming weeks.

Capcom's handling of Mega Man makes me sad in the pants. :'[

Especially Mega Man 9 and now 10 apparently.

You mean the kind of approach they've already tried and failed at for years?

They took a 10 year break into games and IMO, Megaman 8 (and Megaman & Bass) were great games. Id rather they move on from there instead of going back to the late 80s

Screw this...
I want a Megaman Legends 3 :(
I want to see Megaman move into this generation... not go back 20 years... :(

I actually thought they might have been leaning towards that with that Megaman being chosen to be included in Tatsunoko vs Capcom

I would definitely love a Mega Man Legends 3. But I'm not opposed to a 2D Mega Man game. A new sidescrolling Mega Man game could be unbelievable if they did it correctly. But they have chosen to take the cheap and easy route preying on gamers nostalgia. I'm just flabbergasted that Capcom has somehow conned people into believing that this is what they want out of a new Mega Man game.

I'd like another megaman X game. Mega man X games from I to IV were great. They kind of went down hill from there. But if they could go back and do another that held to its roots, I'd be all up for it.
I'm for this as well. To be honest, X5 was actually good IMHO, X6 was pretty bad in terms of story and design, but still had that Megaman X feel, X7 was where they tried 3D third person stuff that just ended up terribly. however, X8 updated the graphics but returned it to the 2-D style platforming, and had the best story since X4

SPOILERS

They finally killed Sigma in X8, so the story is just hanging. I really want them to finish it off somehow.

Ugh....it's time for the whining that started with Mega Man 9.

Oh well, I'm stoked. Classic Mega Man is my favorite of the series, and I like the 8-bit games much better than what they tried with the SNES and PS1. Also, Mega Man X ended at X5 as far as I'm concerned.

Mega Man X5 was the worst of the 2D games in that series. I hated the time countdown aspect and thought X6 was alot better than it.

Another 8-bit game? Why the heck do we have these badass consoles, when they just keep going backwards?

I meant story wise actually. I didn't care for the games timer aspect, but essentially the story ended there and led directly into the Zero series.

Mega Man X6 goofed that timeline up quite a bit. Even though I think the Zero and ZX series essentially filled in some of the plot holes.

thats why I wish they had just made this a seperate spinoff and move the actual Megaman series into the future

Oh I see. I never played the MegaMan games for the story especially since they all basically followed the same basic format. It was all about the gameplay and weapons for me, and X6 excelled in those 2 areas. I loved the armor, mechs and collectible. X5 felt kinda lame in those regards from what I remember

Has anyone played that Mega Man X RPG? Mega Man X: Command Mission. I though it was a fun game and it introduced many new characters. I wouldn't mind something similar again. Or if Metroid: Another M turns out good, I wouldn't mind if the Mega Man series gets a similar game. X and Zero in the hands of Team Ninja? That could only end up being awesome.

Command Mission, I've never played it and have thought about getting it for Gamecube to finally play it. I'll have to check it out. Does it require playing X7 and X8? Since I've never played either one and I don't have a PS2 any longer.

Team Ninja Mega Man X game would indeed be awesome, and we'd get a female robot with double D's and jiggle physics. :p

I'm not sure on Command Mission. I didn't play X6 and X7, but I didn't feel like I was missing any vital information. But it probably increases the experience, since Axl is already of your team. If you haven't played the games before, you might wonder where he comes from.

X7 was absolutely dreadful. Not even worth mentioning.

My thoughts exactly. I'd love a Megaman X9 using the same engine X4-X5 used. Same graphics, same gameplay. I had too much fun with that. And I want them to finish the story.

I know I'm probably in a minority seeing the reactions to 9 here, but I loved it. It skipped past all the needless junk tossed in the series for the last few games, and just focused on making it a fun game again. The X series hasn't held my interest since X4, the XYZ or whatever series they made on the GBA afterwards...ugh. Megaman Network battle held my interest for a very short time (bought one game not realizing it was more RPG'ish, wasn't bad tho). I think, much like Sonic, they've been taking Megaman in the wrong direction for a long time. 9 was, to me, what the series needed.

Don't get me wrong, I'd love to see a new legends, or state of the art 2D platforming powerhouse, but if 10's as fun as 9 I'll be happy. Plus, profit wise, I understand Capcom's reasoning. Why blow several million dollars over a few years making a state of the art Megaman when an 8-bit cheaply made one sells almost as well.

Exactly. I hope this sells enought to get them to keep up with the retro classic series.
