The next Megaman game?

First gameplay video of Megaman Universe revealed. Basically its an old school Megaman game which lets you play as Megaman, Bad Box Art Megaman (seriously), Ryu and Im assuming other characters from Capcom

That looks really cool. It's funny how they threw in Bad Box Art Megaman, lol!

I think there's more to this game than choosing different characters.

And suddenly my interest for this is gone.

Turns out I was correct.

Mega Man Universe features fully customizable characters and levels.

So how long until we see World 1-1 after this game launches?

Seems so. And I wouldn't have it any other way.

This is going to be awesome. I'd buy this game just top make the levels!

Yeah, I'm a sucker for level editors. I love the idea of them and I get really excited and my mind gets flooded with ideas for levels, but when the rubber meets the road I always suck at making levels. I have a lot of fun messing around with them though.

Yeah me too, I hope it's easy to create them, I mean how hard could it be?

Well, for me it's not so much about a level editor being difficult to use but more about me getting writer's block. Or..."level editor's block" or whatever.

I hear ya, when started playing LBP I always kept some sheets of graph paper in my briefcase just for level designing. lol

Im not creative when it comes to designing levels. I prefer to play what others make

I´m very interested now, since it was announced that you can make your own characters and levels.
I love that.

On a side note, why does everyone keeps saying that a game is like LittleBigPlanet, when it comes to make levels, character and so on?
I don´t know if you realize, but LBP didn´t created the all "make game" thingy.
To let user make games is as old as video games itself.
The only thing LBP did, and i take my hat off for it, was to take that concept and make a game out of it (and to create a new genre, the all Play, Create, Share) but the idea is not that original as people make it to be, remember RPG Maker?
Besides, there are tons of games with level editors.

I'm sure everyone already knows that. People reference LittleBigPanet because it's the most current game for a next gen system that offers such detailed level editing.

I hope Capcom allow us to make our own cutscenes and story too.
How hard can it be?
It´s like a comic book, not animation; all you have to do is choose the camera angle, write the story and choose the characters for each panel.
This way you can make your own Megaman epicness

Its no different than Arkham Asylum being referenced to every comic based game that is made now. Just go look at the Spiderman thread. Or random FPS being the new "Halo" or "CoD", even though there were console FPS's long before them

RPG is a different genre and RPG Maker wasnt particularly good in what it did, nor did it become big or popular. Megaman Powered Up had a level editor and multiple characters, so this isnt new for the series. However that was tacked on and wasnt the entire basis for the game. LBP is one of the few (probably up until now only) Platformer which focused exclusively around level editing. Not to mention, its the most significant and recent title to do so. The comparison between what was recently announced for Megaman Universe to LBP is rather obvious and one that make sense.

I understand why people mention LPB when it comes to level editor.
Not only was the most recent game to do that, is the most successful and created a new genre (yes, RPG Maker was not very good, but as you know, that was not the point).

The thing is (and i don´t mean this forum, as it was the first time i noticed LPB being mentioned about another game with level editor) people make it sound like, every game after LPB that uses level editors is ripping off the Media Molecule game.
That is, imo, the one thing that doesn´t make any sense.

People can say that, it was because of LPB that evel editors became much more mainstream, sure, that is true.
People started to look at it after the sucess of LPB, but that always happens when it comes to criativity when something works, and it´s not necessarily a bad thing.

And i even give you an example i remember.
When the movie Mortal Kombat was made, back in 1995, in an interview, the producer said that the Super Mario Bros movie was very important because there were many people that wanted to make a movie based on a video game, but no one had the guts to because they expected it to be a failure.
It would only take one movie to open the doors for studios to make those movies, and that was what SMB movie did.
Yes, it was failure, both in critic and box office, but there was one movie based on a video game, and that was enough.

When anyone compares Mega Man Universe to Little Big Planet they're just doing it as shorthand for "it's a sidescroller with a large focus on customized content". And that's as deep as the comparison goes. It really shouldn't have to be explained.

Mega Man Universe cancelled

Mega Man Universe, originally announced back in July and playable at the last Tokyo Game Show promised to let you "make your own Mega Man", and was built around letting you share stages and characters with fellow players online. It also included some collaborative characters, like this guy.

Capcom have been quiet about the project for a while now, and apparently for a good reason - it's just been officially stated as "cancelled". The title was set to be released on the Playstation Network and Xbox Live Arcade sometime during Spring of this year, but that clearly isn't happening now. As for reasons for the cancellations, Capcom vaguely stated that it was due to "various circumstances."

Hopefully we'll see more of our favourite Blue Bomber in a different project soon. Currently, Mega Man Legends 3 is being developed for the Nintendo 3DS.

I wonder if that has anything to do with the departure of Keiji Inafune.

Oh, that's probably one of the reasons, if not the main one.

From what I remember, there was a Megaman Online coming too. Whatever happened to that...

I could be wrong, but I think that was Korean thing.
