It's to late for this year and will be forgotten by next year

If it does well with the critics, at the box office, and has good word of mouth I don't see it being forgotten about at all. You have some who feel Jim was robbed with The Truman Show and Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind.

So I like to think that anything possible.

Either way I'm looking forward to this film.

I'm looking forward to it as well but i can't think of one example of a movie being released an entire year ahead of the oscars and winning

Looking at some of those stills I think Carrey would've been an awesome Joker. Some of those pictures just scream Joker to me.

These three in particular give off a Jokerish vibe.

I've always wanted to see Carrey do an outright serious/dark film.

i think this will be a let down, if it was good and the studio thought it had a chance of wniing anything, they would have released it earlier

This had been in production for quite sometime, so it's not like they held off on releasing it because of confidence issues.

I remember this particular film being in production for a long time. If I'm not mistaken it was being developed in about 2004 or 2005. I could be wrong, but I remember reading that somewhere.
