The NUMBER 23!

one of the worst films I have seen in a long time. REALLY felt like walking out.

Forget this movie- you're better off with "The Machinist"...hell even "Hide And Seek" was better than this steaming pile.

then you, sir, have just lost your right to express an opinion

Hehe....I didn't see the movie but ummmm.....

The Superhero Hype Main Page said:
Offering the strongest competition, Jim Carrey reteamed with Joel Schmacher after Batman Forever for the psychological thriller The Number 23 which took in an estimated $15.1 million over the weekend, a so-so average of $5,500 per theatre, placing it in second.

5500 divided by 15.1 equals 364.23841

:)

It was a good movie, but it felt very dumbed down. That's my opinion.

This film was.....

......STOOOOPID!

It sucked hard, and the 23 angle just felt forced. Lame.

It was ok. Nothing more.

The ending was what has now become cliche in films like Hide and Seek, The Sixth Sense, Secret Window, Identity, etc. They were on a real interesting path with a different ending until it came crumbling down at the end with the obvious cliched ending. It was kind of disappointing. Carrey wasn't bad though, I like seeing him in more serious roles. Although I found myself at times blurting out lines from Ace Ventura and Dumb & Dumber, etc. Overall, it wasn't terrible, but it wasn't good.

I cannot believe that some people actually saw this movie, much less even wanted to see it.

Y'know, there is a select group of people that like to actually form their OWN opinion before siding with the critics. See the movie first before calling us idiots.

Question to those, who saw it: What exactly sucked in the movie?

First of all. Carrey was miscast, as was the director. He becomes infatuated with the significance of this number...but all through the first 2 acts you think "why does he care? it's just a number." The movie tries to sell you this wafer thin thing...and tries to sell it in such a way that "this number will end up killing you"...but it's never done satisfactorily. Its never explained "why this number is bad"..the whole things incredibly esoteric.

Its basically a macguffin (something that drives the characters/plot is of no consequence to the audience e.g rabbits foot in MI3)
but because the dialogue is poor and the characters are poor..the first two acts are abysmal. It's kind of the same reason why the Da Vinci Code felt so empty- although that movie was still better.

SPOLIERS:

theres one scene where a character is confronted by carrey- the character looks shocked and screams "you should be dead!" he then runs away and stabs himself in the neck with a screwdriver. I laughed outloud in the cinema! just so stupid

Act 3 has the "big twist"- one that has been done before but better.
The movie tries to be like "The Jacket", "The Machinist", "Vanilla Sky", "The Sixth Sense"...but it fails miserably

END SPOILERS

It's just a very confused movie- the signifance of the number is never really sold. It's a bad movie- in fact it's one of the worst I've seen in a while.

I guarantee you that anyone who likes this movie has never seen "The Machinist" or "The Jacket"..because if they had....they'd realise this movie is just a watered down and poorly scripted imitation.

I saw its cliché trailer and thought it was laughable and over-the-top.

And I never called you idiots.
