Now if only they could get their act together regarding the physical edition that sold out immediately.

FINAL FANTASY Pixel Remaster series on PS4 and Nintendo Switch | Square Enix Blog

What can you expect from the console version?
The PS4 and Switch versions of these games have some awesome features that make them even more enjoyable to play than before.

These include the option to:

  • Change soundtracks: The Pixel Remaster series features utterly superb new orchestral arrangements of FINAL FANTASY I - VI’s soundtracks. However, we know some of you may want to recreate the original experience of playing these games, so you’ll be able to switch between the original and rearranged soundtracks.

  • Change fonts: The console release of FINAL FANTASY I - VI gives you the option to switch between two different fonts: the default font and a new pixel-based font that recreates the feel of the original games.

  • Turn off random encounters: Sometimes you just want to explore in peace, so a new feature in the Pixel Remaster games lets you turn off random encounters completely. This means you can roam the world without being harassed by monsters. That also means you won’t get stronger, so be careful how you use it…

  • Adjust experience: Speaking of getting stronger, want to speed things up a little? Boost features let you adjust the experience gained by up to four times. Perfect if you want an easier run through the games.
All these features are, of course, optional, but they mean that players of all types - from those who played the originals to those who have never played a classic FINAL FANTASY game before - can have a great time with these six awesome adventures.
How do you get the FINAL FANTASY Pixel Remaster Series?
All six games in the FINAL FANTASY pixel remaster series will be available to buy digitally on PS4 and Nintendo Switch. Each title can be bought individually or as a complete series in the FINAL FANTASY I - VI BUNDLE.

The Switch version is available to pre-order now. Purchase the game by May 25, 2023 to receive two themed Wallpapers for each individual game. Buy the complete series in the FINAL FANTASY I-VI BUNDLE to get all 12 themed Wallpapers.

The PS4 version will be available to purchase at a later date. Those of you who buy the games digitally on PlayStation 4 between April 20, 2023 – May 25, 2023 will get a Theme and Avatar for each title purchased. Players who purchase the complete series in the FINAL FANTASY I-VI BUNDLE will receive every Theme and Avatar included with the individual games - a total of six Themes and six Avatars.

I continue to hold to my theory, that someone inside S-E is being as passive aggressive obstructionate as possible with the original FF games.

I imagine there’s a whole lot of obstructionist idiots amongst Square’s modern management.

Yasumi Matsuno Calls Theory About Bash Being Final Fantasy XII's Original Protagonist a "Fake Story"
There are many theories and rumors around Final Fantasy XII, especially due to the change of leadership in the middle of development. One of these rumors has been shot down today.
Question: “Well, I guess the confusion here is the rumor Basch was supposed to be the main character of FFXII. Shot in the dark here to see what's true.”
Yasumi Matsuno, early Final Fantasy XII Story & Concept designer : “That rumor is a fake story. Thank you.” (April 17, 2023)

May have really dropped the ball on ethnic diversity, but clearly, they are doing something to piss off the Saudis, which can only be good.

I'd bet those sales figures would look even better if the physical copies of the Pixel Remasters weren't "might as well not exist" levels of available.

Wonder what they are wanting removed. Have other FF titles been released there? (if you know)

I’m gonna guess it’s a gay character the Saudis wanted removed. Doctor Strange 2 and Lightyear and other movies featuring gay characters get banned there all the time.

Imran Khan - Everything Everywhere Once A Week (6/02/2023)
Hello! I assume you're here because you already know me, but if not, I'm Imran Khan. In the past, I was a Senior Editor at Game Informer, the News Editor at Fanbyte, a host at Kinda Funny, and I know that Nibel guy on Twitter (he's cool).

I bring this up because I had heard recently that Square Enix is panicking slightly over Final Fantasy XVI preorder numbers, which are tracking behind FFXV even accounting for the lesser number of launching platforms. Granted, those are pre-order numbers and they're usually only useful to gauge guaranteed day-one sales (versus potential day-one sales), so the actual number could blow everyone away. But with the current tracking, I wonder if they want to remind people the next chapter of Final Fantasy VII's remake trilogy exists and give it more marketing time than they had planned.

The initial sales of Remake were quite good, but it slowed down faster than Square Enix seemed to expect, so I imagine they really want Rebirth to sell as well as possible. Well, of course they do, but I imagine they're really, really hoping for an uptick in sales.

I expect it to sell well even if my personal interest is low for the first time for a FF launch. Just something like FFXVI being the first M-rated Final Fantasy can reduce its pre-sales and total lifetime ceiling for sales just like being R rated does to movies.

Square Enix always has overblown expectations for what they expect what they publish to sell because they sink too much money into it, I've read summaries of their own business reports for many years.

I find it hard to trust modern Square management with anything, even something which should be a slam dunk like FF.

There have been a lot of bad FF stories. But XVI is hilariously bad. An obvious ripoff of superior material, while trying so hard to be "adult" and in the process being positively juvenile. The combat is fine, but a far cry from any of the series I've played but it's a giant step down from Remake and nowhere near action games like DMC, Ragnarok, or Bayonetta. Also what is the point of a party if you can't actually play as anyone else? They can't even die and that's before we get into the threadbare RPG elements (forge new sword for 10 points more damage) or whack economy (would you like a potion for 200 or a new song for 20,000). I also can't believe they used a lot of their MMO assets for this. It looks significantly worse then Remake.

The best thing about this game is the summon fights, but while visually spectacular, they are super simple and easy.
