@Troy, Very true. Also there is enough in this reboot to differentiate and strengthen the argument for the origin. Most notably being the webshooters. I just don't see how you can adequately explain those to casual fans without the reboot.


@Godzilla, that's totally false. I'll concede that I wasn't a Spidey fan until I saw SM1. The origin was the most intriguing part. So I'm gonna go ahead and say you're dead wrong about that and I was 9. In fact, I came out of the film looking to get my hands on any version of the origin possible. I went out of my way to try and find out how it was in the comics and I'm pretty certain I got USM #1 the same day I got out of the theater from seeing SM1.

Didn't Ultimate Spider-Man # 1 come out about a year and a half before Spider-Man was released?

Different kids go about things differently.
When I was 4 I didn't care about the origin. I was 4! All I knew is that I wanted that red superhero at my bday party.
When the first 2000 vid game released I became more interested and the movies pushed me further. I was 7.
So all people look at things differently.

A majority of people who see this film will be over the age of 8. Those kids will take an interest in the origin if they truly enjoy the character. Obviously 4 year old kids only have a capacity for action. They don't understand the depth of emotion.

USM # 1 came out in November of 2000, so I estimated about a year and a half for May of 2002.

I personally like to buy the trade paperbacks, especially with books like Ultimate Spider-Man which is consisted primarily of multi-issue arcs.

My frist Spidey comic wss in thr 90's. It was a reprint of ASM issue 3, if I remember correctly.

I first came in contact with Spidey when SM-1 was released. I was 9 at that moment. After that I became obsessed with him.

Then I bought my first comic. (Well not really.) To be honest I didn't even know there were comics of Spidey back then, my mom spotted a issue at a shop and immediatly bought it for me then.

After that day I became the obsessed Spidey fan I'm still today.
