The OFFICIAL Avengers COSTUME Thread!

I've taken it upon myself to work out what Thorstone's Captain America would look like:

CaptainAmerica.jpg

It should be clear and obvious to everyone that this is superior in every way to that crappy design Hack Kirby came up with. You can tell it really captures the essence of, not only the character, but of the American spirit. This will translate to film REALLY well. Please make it so, Marvel. If you don't, well... never mind of course you will, no one is crazy enough to pass on such an excellent design as this.

Not to complain but I hope they don't go with that design. See, the Red Star is the symbol of communism.

Whew! Getting back to something more familiar, I've revised my Thor movie micro with a far superior helm design:
Thor__The_Movie_by_TheEndlessOne.jpg

I mean it's nothing compared to thorstone's idea, but it might look pretty cool...:hehe:

The public doesn't care about obscure characters like Antman.

If I were making an Avengers film, the character whom wielded the hammer of Thor would not turn into Thor-- the hammer is just a weapon. And I'd dig deeper into the Norse mythology; in order for anyone to wield the hammer of Thor, one must first possess his gauntlet. Furthermore, I'd explain the artifacts as alien in origin. I would not use the mythology in a literal form as most of you desire.

I hate when people suggest that the Thor movie should be more like Norse mythology. This movie is based off of Marvel's "The Mighty Thor", not the Thor of Norse legend. One is certainly based off the other, but where there are any differences they should go with Marvel's version.

In other words, he should have blonde hair and clean shaven instead of red hair with a beard. Loki should be Thor's brother, not Odin's. And there should be Donald Blake and all of that. I want a movie based on Marvel's character "Thor", not a retelling of Norse mythology. Hell, that might actually even be pretty cool, but it's not what this movie should be.

And no, none of this alien technology ********.

I don't think anyone is arguing with you about that (except maybe some of us not being fond of the whole Donald Blake thing) and that's the movie we'll be getting (except for that whole Donald Blake thing.)

Yup. That's pretty much ideal. Only two things I would differ on would be the helmet: I probably wouldn't have the wings quite so big, maybe something more in this vein:

And secondly, I would probably lose the beard. Not that I don't like it, I'd just prefer that they save that for Iron Man 2, or Avengers or whenever Thor ends up premiering in the present day just as a way of saying "Many, many years have past." Adding facial hair is basically a cheat Hollywood uses to show us that a character has aged or significant time has passed (Brokeback Mountain for example). Plus I think it would be neat if, in the modern day Thor wore his Ultimates uniform (which is essentially just a stripped down version of his 616 costume). That way you could have both looks for different things: The baby-faced Thor with full Asgardian regalia during his own movie, and bearded Thor with the stripped down Ultimate version of his outfit in Iron Man 2/Avengers.

Story boarding for this movie starts this week. :)

I agree. I was working on an Avengers Cartoon fanfic, and I thought about making Thor more of a savage, getting him back to his Viking roots, until I realized that that just isn't the Thor that Stan created. The Marvel Thor is more chivalrous, noble, and Arthurian, and that's the Thor I want to see on the screen.

This is a real matter of perspective. Thor has sported a beard many times in the comic, which alot of people really like. Also, I prefer Asgard over Earth because, well, Asgard is a hell of a lot more interesting. Also a big funny talking viking would seem a little stupid on film. Unless anchored by the Avengers that is. From what I've seen of the script, it will be Marvel's Thor purely by characterzation, if not direction. Rest easy, I think it will shape up well.

That would probably work. However, what if when we first see him in modern day, he's still wearing his Asgardian duds from his own movie; at some point another character suggests he change into something a little more modern, so he taps his hammer and BAM!

Ultimate Thor!

On another note: which version of his hammer should he weild in the movies? Classic 616 or Ultimate?

I say Hank Pym should be the character to suggest it, and his Hammer should be some of mix between the two. Fanboys have the best ideas, why aren't we making these movies.

When it comes to Cap it gets no better.

As for Thor

Thor_2_variant_%28by_Gabriele_Dell%27Otto%29.jpg

Wasp
Wasp_%28Janet_van_Dyne%29_004.jpg

Yellow-Jacket (so he can both grow and shrink. Plus the costume kinda works with Janet's)
Yellowjacket_I_001.jpg

Iron Man and Hulk went with the original looks so I'm not seeing why the others shouldn't as well. I think these costumes with the exception of maybe Wasp and Yellowjacket are fine of their own. I really don't think the Ultimate costumes work as superhero costumes. More like government agents. They're one piece jumpsuits for christ's sake and X-men and the Fantastic Four are already doing that. This is a mish-mash of separate superheroes brought together so it should look like it...God, I hope S.H.I.E.L.D does not give the team official costumes. :(

616. I'm really not fond of the Ultimate hammer at all. To me there's just something about the 616 hammer, it's not sleek, or elegant or anything like that it's just this great big mallet that kicks all kinds of ass. Simple, but effective.

Ant-Mans costume should be like this but with extractable antennas
00antman.jpg

I think the suit should be made from the Fantastic Four movie costume material and the helmet a bit like Kroenens from Hellboy

I actually really like that Ant-man look. I just kind of hope they use Giant-man or Yellowjacket for Avengers for more of a dynamic.

I think Ant-Man should have the Scott Lang suit with the Hank Pym helmet only with retractable antennas. And I for one do not wanna see any Ultimate suits, we already got that in the cartoon. Jackson as Fury is enough. Hulk and Iron Man have their classic looks. I believe Thor should use his current costume. It looks like it was made for movies because of its realistic design and shortening of the exaggerated elements. Cap should have a scaly shirt with a big star right in the middle, short wings on his mask, and red briefs with blue pants. The only thing I think that can be changed is his bell bottom boots, but they should still be red. I think Wasp should use her Black costume with the yellow design that she used towards the end of Avengers and Avengers Disassembled.

I love Cap's swashbuckler boots. :csad:
