The Official Ben 10 Franchise Thread

That was an alternate universe remember ? Professor Paradox said Race Against Time was an alternate reality in that episode.

Hope they showcase the new aliens more than the older series.

The whole premise of Ultimate Alien was that the Ultimatrix could allow Ben to transform into the evolved version of his aliens. Yet after the first few episodes he never used his evolved forms.

Didn't the more evolved versions of some of the aliens break away & go their separate ways earlier in the season but then Ben was still able to turn into some of them after so it never made all the much sense.

the ultimatrix had been reprogrammed with "dummy" aliens to replace the trapped personalities inside, i believe.

Anybody else catch this premiere?

Still no digging the new art style, Kevin's redesign is the worst.

I think the lack of pupils is what is most jarring.

I meant to catch it but missed it cuz of work.

They're reairing it a bunch all month. The actual premiere isnt until September, this was just a sneak peek

Finally got around to watching it. I liked it a good deal.

Never really liked the first series all that much but I really, really liked Alien Force and Ultimate Alien. The tone of this series seems like a mixture of both the original series and of AF and UA. Not a fan of the designs at all to be honest but the action scenes are set up nicely and the writing seems pretty solid (the chicken alien guy was pretty hilarious, they did a good job with the comedic bits).

It sort of sucks how they're sending off Gwen and Kevin away. Hope they come back and aren't gone for too long. Kevin's new design sucks it looks like the design they used in that one episode Ken 10 where it's an alternate universe

Despite a few visual gripes here and there this new series does seem interesting and I'm curious as to where they're headed with including the younger Ben from the original series into this.

It seems like Ben is much younger than both Kevin & Gwynn in this version which is the reason he had to stay behind. It looked like an alien somehow turned Ben back into a kid at the start of the show so he kinda had to grow up again. The animation is the worst part of the show so far but we will see how everything else goes when the actual season starts.

The reason why he looked surprised in the beginning of the episode when he's a kid is because the Omintrix turned off on him during a crucial moment in the fight he was in, not because he was reverted to a younger age.

He's still 16 in the present timeline. Gwen explains that she's going to college earlier because she's taken a load of honor classes. They're all still the same age as they were in Ultimate Alien. Ominverse takes place a few months after Ultimate Alien.

With that said it does seem that the 11 year old Ben will somehow end up being tied to the present 16 year old Ben.

Yeah the fight at the beginning was a flashback to when he was still a kid(even though he used an alien he never had back then).

It should tie in to why he is sent to the future(older Ben's present)

I still like to believe that "Ben 10,000" is in continuity and that Kevin is destined to go bad again, be sent to the "phantom zone", and return as Kevin 11,000

That's because he's 11 in that flashback so it takes place a year after the end of the first Ben 10 series.

Ah, did not know that.

So this series is going to have Young Ben and Old Ben fighting alongside each other right? If so it'll be interesting to see how they combine diff aliens powers/strengths during fights

Only time will tell but it certainly seems like there's going to be a connection between the two, yeah.

I'm really excited at the possibilities too. I'm going to really miss the tone of Alien Force & Ultimate Alien those two shows were really darn good. A large part of that had to do with Gwen and Kevin too and now that they've seemingly have been sidelined which isn't really a creative decision that's sitting with well with me.

Here's hoping they'll appear more than I think they are. Regardless of all that I'm still really digging Omniverse.

I really enjoyed AF and UA but I disliked the downgrade they did on Kevin's powers. I liked it better when he could transform into diff aliens. Dont know why they decided to turn him into the "Absorbing Man"

Ben 10: Omniverse is not that bad. But I miss Gwen and Kevin.

P.S Is there still a big screen live action Ben 10 movie in the works?

Omniverse isn't that bad, but I think it's a far cry from AF and UA, so far. I do like the new partner though. The change in animation style is...well, it leaves a lot to be desired compared to Alien Force and Ultimate Alien.

There is still interest in it, yes. But due to the shake up over at the company it's probably taking a bit longer than thought. Plus, right now I think it's just finding the right script - and perhaps the right writer for said script - one that can work for both the fans and the masses. The problem here is usually the cartoon company and film company both have different visions and it's uniting those which isn't a really easy thing to do unless you know the middle grounds.

That said, I do have the right connections to take my stab at the script and I have peaked interest for another cartoon property before that would have been acquired if the timing was right.

I have my eye set on not just one Ben 10 film, but a whole series of films. I already have the outline for how three (and possibly more) movies would work and I'm writing the first with that in mind.

This Ben Tennyson is a little more edgy, a bit more young James Tiberius Kirk in the new Star Trek films. And the mythology is treated just as seriously (yet still has that playful tone). The one and only major change is Max Tennyson who I believe can draw in the older crowd, but that said he's also visualized somewhat differently in the live action films as well. As for the aliens, I'm really diving into what their real world counterparts can be to make them seem grounded. You will see all the aliens throughout all the films and fans of each season, I'm certain will have things they love come to life. As for casting, I really think the best actor out there for this is Dakota Goyo just from the way he carries himself he just naturally seems a lot like Ben. I also have my eye on a specific actor to play Max, which if this whole thing works out - which is very possible due to my past history - my vision of tone and real world groundedness with high octane action will immediately come across.

Charmcaster is my favorite character in the Ben 10 universe. Will she ever appear inBen 10 Omniverse?

Am I the only one who like the Ben 10 original series the best, out of all four of the Ben 10 shows? Ben 10: Alien Force is my second favirite, and was really well done just like the original series. Ben 10: Ultimate Alien and Ben 10: Omniverse are a mixed bag for me , they have some good episodes, but fall short of the first two series, especially Omniverse.

I enjoyed the original series, it was fun, but nothing outstanding. It wasn't until Glen Murakami and the late Dwayne McDuffie came onboard that things started to get interesting, IMO.

I really enjoyed Alien Force; at least, the first two seasons. The third season was a little disappointing, and I have a feeling that a lot of it has to do with ******** original series fanboys who hated the darker and more mature direction Alien Force went with, and Dwayne and Glen catered to them.

As for Ultimate Alien, I really liked the first season, probably 'cause part of it was McDuffie's original plan for Season 3 of AF. The second season, however, was pretty disappointing.

Omniverse? Well, I've only seen the first thirteen episodes, and couldn't go on. I thought it was one of the biggest piles of dog poo I have ever seen in my life. People thought it wasn't possible to have a worse cartoon than Ultimate Spider-Man? Well, Omniverse is that piece of crap.

Charmcaster is my favorite character in the Ben 10 universe. Will she ever appear inBen 10 Omniverse?

As far as I know, no time soon. Derrick Wyatt (the Omniverse character designer and one of the showrunners) said that she's really hard to adapt to Omniverse because Ultimate Alien screwed up her character so horribly (which it did) and working her in to Omniverse will require some form of retcon voodoo to make her back like she used to be: a magical, human supervillain rather than (as Wyatt put it) "a father-obsessed, homicdal maniac belonging to a race of magic space elves." I personally hope they find a way to do this and she'll appear, but we'll see.

Do you guys think a live action big screen Ben 10 film could work? Also which era should be used child or teenager?
