This. They have entirely different methods and it only makes sense for them to clash at some point especially if Lex is manipulating them. (and give movie more originally & deeper story than fighting with an evil clone)
Superman had to fight for Zod to death to save humankind.
Batman is a vigilante doing police work (or what they can't) but terrorize criminals psychologically & psychically for decades.
Also they dislike eachother for different reasons. Batman sees an alien brought intergalactic war which caused thousands of deaths and afraids of what superman can become even he is not the enemy now and doesn't want to take a chance.Superman doesn't like Batman's methods. It's apples & oranges.
Here's a speculation that I think we could see come to pass in BvS:
I have to really wonder how much Batman knows about A.R.G.U.S. We know that Batman will appear in a scene in which he apparently captures the Joker and Harley (presumably taking place in SS, but honestly, who knows). It has been rumored that Batman has a confrontation with Amanda Waller as well.
It would make sense to me that the World's Greatest Detective--especially if Oracle is working alongside him--is spying on A.R.G.U.S. And of course A.R.G.U.S. is spying on him.
Batman is probably not pleased about what Waller is up to.
That makes Batman a severe liability for A.R.G.U.S. He always has been a thorn in Waller's side, actually. But there was no one who could stop him. Until a new sheriff arrived in town.
As hinted by the end of MoS, Superman has formed an uneasy alliance with the military that is mostly on his own terms. (He knows they will continue to spy on him, so it's a 'keep your enemies close' sort of approach. But it is also done prosocially in the interest of forging a healthy relationship with humankind.) Waller therefore directs Swanwick to ask Superman to set limits on Batman: to shut Bats down, essentially. Waller, who is an expert profiler par excellence and professional psychological manipulator, is well aware that this will probably tip Batman over the edge. And sure enough, it does. (Ironically, unbeknownst to Waller Batman may be more susceptible than she knows because Darkseid is invading Batman's unconscious, but that remains to be seen.) Batman decides to go on a suicide mission in response to Superman's policing of him.
We know from the faux interview with Lex by Ron Troupe that Lex has met with Amanda Waller (or that he has a working relationship with A.R.G.U.S., at any rate). So it will be fascinating to see in a scenario such as this how both Lex's and Waller's schemes intertwine and ultimately collide.
Anyway, I'm just saying that I could see something like this going down. I think there will also be psychological layers to both Batman and Superman based on their own respective histories and personalities, that will also play an equal role in motivating them. But a setup like this would make sense for me as an explanation for why these two go at each other so hard in this film.
