Don't see why. She can fight, she's pretty, she can fill out a PVC catsuit, she's got slavic facial features, and she's a good enough actress for a third-tier Marvel character. We've never seen her do accents, but that's just because there aren't a lot of accented roles for actresses in her age group.

The studio was planning a film a few years back, but it never got off the ground. * Kate was rumored to play the part of Black Widow.

At this point, it doesn't look like there will be a film.

Love Black Widow, but I hate a lot of the casting choices.(sorry guys) being that she is a foreigner and she is a spy, I don't think having someone extremely well known (unless they can deliver one hell of performance) is the way to go. Milla Jovovich is a decent choice. I could live with that, but these poster girls, WB eye candy chicks that are being suggested are all wrong. We need to believe that Natasha is deadly, and cold blooded and calculating. Swank? Beckinsale? Kunis? They don't convince me that they care conniving, cold blooded, calculating, lethal super spies. But Milla could pull that off.

I disagree. Swank is a great actress, and could do it.

That's the mark of a great actor/ actress... they play characters that are nothing like their actual personality, convincingly.

Hilary Swank happens to have some kind of role in Iron Man, along with Sam Jackson; Since he's to be Nick Fury, it's rumored she'd be Black Widow.
