The OFFICIAL fix X-Men: The Last Stand thread

I would love to see that...
Just some more Rogue in it :D
And the alt scene.
But please give her a little more screen time....
And of Course the Phoenix effects.... I love those you all made so far..
Great job :D

I would want to see more Scott, obviously. Yes, I understand James Marsden was shooting Superman Returns at the time, but damnit, there should have been more done to give Scott more leeway to have more time for his character. You can't do the Dark Phoenix Saga, no matter in what iteration or how you do it specifically, without Scott Summers.

I also would change the climax -- switch it back to Washington, D.C. And give Jean/Phoenix more screentime. Maybe a few more flashbacks, or just more time with Jean/Phoenix struggling with her powers. Honestly, scenes such as Jean sensing the scared girl and ignoring Magneto's wishes are great examples of how you could've expanded her character and given her more to do in terms of development and establising why she's acting this way and how she feels about it.

I think there were fantastic seeds for a great movie -- but it needed at least 20-40 more minutes of development thematically and character-wise.

OK first of all, what program would I be able to use to take the movie and deleted scenes in their great quality AND what would I use to edit them all together into the movie it should have been? Editing's not hard at all, I just need to know what program(s) to use.

ok heres the first 8 minutes of the last stand that i edited. CHanged the opening, put in the old cerebro door, altered the danger room (hated it when the holograms changed how unrealiastic and cheesy) and then some

I like it. I much prefer this order to the opening scenes, it's more like how the first movie handled things (Xavier voiceover, credits, flashback, present). Exactly what I would have done (well, I still don't know if Angel's really needed in the big picture).

I do think a couple of your transitions could use just a little tweaking, like having the first shot of the street visible through the "eye" of the Cerebro door as we fly through. That seems doable with a matte and some filters. The cut from Angel's back to the Danger Room is also a bit awkward. I know you were avoiding that quick zoom-in on his wing-stumps, but maybe if you slowed down the end of the shot a bit, let us linger on what we're seeing, then surprise us with the cut to the Danger Room.

I hope you don't think I'm being overly critical, because I really do like what you're doing. X3's the first movie that I've been interested in seeing fans recut, just because there are so many things in the deleted scenes that could have easily made the film better. I very much look forward to seeing you and others continue this project.

As an aside, having only seen the movie once, I hadn't noticed how much better the verision of the opening theme in the movie itself is than the one on the soundtrack. And it's made all the better by coming after Xavier's voiceover now.

What did you use to get the scenes from the movie AND edit them together?

oh no please i love constructed critisism. I unfortunatly am using windows movie maker which sucks. Im still working on the whole angel to the danger room scene but concerning the whole cerebro door, i need to figure out how to fix that.

dvd shrink, divx converter to allow windows movie maker to recognize it.

Thanks for answering my question. I too use Windows Movie Maker [And so does pretty much everybody else] when it comes to movie editing. I did have an Adobe Movie editor that was actually a lot better, but the damn thing was so complex so I just gave up on it.
