How can the PS3 score be lower? I thought they mostly developed this game on the PS3? Oh well.

Well according to most reviews, the PS3 version isnt quite as smooth as the 360 version for some reason. I think IGN listed a few instances on the scarring that the proton stream left. In the 360 version, you can see little orange embers left by the stream, where as on the PS3, its just a black mark. Also the damage done to the Stay Puft in the PS3 version, looked more like "bruises" as to actual proton stream damage. I dont think thats enough to cover the .2 difference tho.

far as stores like Wal-Mart and Best Buy getting it the 17th, I may not be too worried. Pretty sure I've seen big stores get games late before. I freaked out a little the other day when I was at Hollywood Video, they sell games there now I guess, they listed the game coming out the 19th. I figure they get it late cause... they're Hollywood Video.

yea, you are prob right.

I have my doubts about that to be honest. I don't really trust IGN a whole lot when it comes to graphic differences. I think it's mostly because there are so more PS3 reviews up on metacritic. I'd say when they all start filling out they'll be roughly the same give or take a X-system centered magazine here and there.

Yea i agree with the scores evening out but i dont think IGN is just making that up. I dont think they purposely said that the PS3 version doesnt leave the embers just to say it. The PS3 is still a pain in the ass to dev for, so i can very well believe that the PS3 version might have a few more hiccups than the 360. The guy who reviewed the game was on their PS3 team as well.

But like i said, that isnt enough to warrant a different score in the visuals department.

I would be more trusting of it, but we've seen them do a lot of questionable scoring when it came to the graphics on the two systems. There's been quite a few titles that's had the complete overall score marked down by a couple of tenths on the PS3 version with graphics as the main reason and later analysis by others have proven that it was pretty unwarranted.

So I can't say I'm taking that to heart right now. Have we heard this same thing from other reviews as well? If we have then their definitely right, but otherwise I'm always a little questioning of any kind of graphic difference analysis given by IGN.

Well if the smoldering embers do show up in the PS3's proton scarring, then i wont ever be able to trust IGN again, i mean thats not something you mess up. They're either there or not, which is why i dont see why IGN would state something like that if it werent the case. I can understand someone saying 'well i think this game looks a bit smoother' but i mean we all are going to be able to see if they are right when they claim the PS3 version doesnt leave as detailed scarring as the 360 version.

Again tho, this is such a small detail that its not really a big deal. Its why IGN stated that this would give the fanboys something to beat their chest over. The only ones who are gonna run around yelling the PS3 version isnt as good will be the fanboys of the 360.

It sounds like only minor differences between the two anyway. I mean, how much of a deal-breaker are orange embers and scorch marks to anybody?

Yeah, I know. It's not a big deal by any means or anything like that, but I'm just not 100% trusting of them in that area. We all know how communism works

Haha exactly. If this is a deal breaker for ANYONE, well then you just have problems. Like i said, its just for the fanboys. Teardrop is right when he said the scores will even out, this detail or lack there-of would not lead to a .2 difference.

IGN have been on their knees for Sony for years know...people just got used to it, so when they see something contrary to that it's surprising

to be honest...for a while, I thought Sony was the parent company of IGN and they were just reviewing other platforms to seem balanced

I really don't know how you came to that conclusion. They use to dock scores on the PS3 version by several tenths of points because of graphics and the 360 version game was almost always up first, sometimes with a days worth difference, before the PS3 version. Both of those aspects have changed, but there was a lot of talk about it before

I doubt their on their knees to anyone though I'm sure they take the usual bribe money like most reviews.

Well maybe its just IGN, but up until recently the 360 usually did have the better version of the game. It took a bit for the devs to really figure out the PS3.

That's true, and that's what I thought as well, but I had seen where other places hadn't docked any score or anything (even those that did the same decimal system). And I did some research on my own and several of those titles I saw videos running on both systems and, quite frankly, I think it was ******** marks and not many other sites commented on these differences. The only exception was Fallout 3, and even then it was really only IGN and GS saying their was a big enough difference to dock a full half point.

Plus, I really don't think a slight graphic difference is enough for docking points. That's my opinion, though. Otherwise I have no problems with IGN or their reviewing, but I'm kind of skeptic of anything they say about graphics from a technical standpoint

:yay:

Im gonna have to stay out of this thread. Its not making the wait any shorter. No game in my collection is quenching my thirst. I NEED Ghostbusters!!!

PP....would you suck a **** for Ghostbusters at this point??

true litmus test for craving of any kind

Here's an interesting tidbit about the PC version of Ghostbusters, apparently it has no online play and has a DRM type of system:

http://kotaku.com/5289551/ghostbusters-pc-requires-internet-connection-doesnt-use-it

I'm not sure anyone explicitly said it would have online multiplayer, but I'm also not sure anyone explicitly said Ghostbusters for the PC wouldn't. Some are saying explicit things about the game's authentication requirement, too.

Ghostbusters enthusiast site Ecto-Web did a compare of the system requirements and, while noting an Internet connection is needed to authenticate the game, it has no point after that. Says Ecto-Web:

Which of the three realistic versions is getting the shaft? If you said, "PC", you're a winner! Compare the feature list of the PC with that of the PS3 and Xbox 360 and you'll notice that the PC does NOT have: Online multiplayer co-op (or any online activities at all!) and downloadable content, even though a PC game not only is capable of such features, PC gaming INVENTED those features!

Seems like a reasonable enough expectation, however, who's gonna pay for the space to host and find games, or the bandwidth to pipe you the DLC?

Behind the scenes, it may be a misnomer to call it DRM, but there is a copy protection scheme - you've got to authenticate your disc the first time you play the game, and that requires Interwebs. If the basic expectation of a PC gamer is that he has an internet connection, then it's a basic expectation, by now, that most PC games should have a multiplayer component.

Anyway, the game is out on Tuesday. If this was a determining factor in your decision to buy, consider yourself notified.

I just got a call from Dan Ackroyd saying that my local Gamestop will be open tomorrow at 10pm for the midnight release of Ghostbusters the game.

Anyone else get that call?
