I'm only gonna say it once, some Green Lantern fans need to own up to the fact that they are the reason as to why they didn't enjoy the movie. Some of them knew too much before hand and saw too much before hand, they thought they were going to get a perfection adaption (if you ask me), they were wrong.

I doubt that was the case for the most.

On a different note, I can't believe how awesome the movie looks on my new LED tv!!!!!!!

I agree. They were expecting a good film and were let down by a poor one. It's their own fault.

Can't you also accept the fact a great number of fans are pissed because they got a mediocre/poor movie. And there's nothing wrong about wanting a great movie, you might as well be conceding the property is not good enough to produce one.

I might as well come to the conclusion that the franchise isn't good enough to produce a great movie? Wtf? Despite my dismay because of what you said, what you said can also apply to other movies that are based off of source materials. I already accepted that a number of GL fans were disappointed with the movie overall, I didn't try to block that out. If I had tried to block out that fact I would have made it known some time ago.

Yesterday or the day before yesterday I realized that Parallax only struck Hal once out of their entire fight. Once.

Fans (mostly who whined a lot and those who were very loudly nit picking every little detail, did discourage many other non GL comic book fans) I know that the movie was not very good but many fans chose to highlight the negative aspects very vocally.

Fans have right to protest if their character is not properly handled but it was certainly odd to see that many non GL fans were acting as authority on what should constitute as a good GL movie.

I had a feeling that someone would misunderstand me. I was actually talking about the Green Lantern trailers when it came to my television. Oops.

Even though I enjoyed Hal talking to The Guardians of the Universe, I feel as if that whole bit was unnecessary. To me it didn't exactly make sense considering how we never heard or saw that the Guardians of the Universe wanted to risk more Green Lanterns' lives because of Parallax wanting to kill off beings. Before Hal talked to them that is, Hal wasted his time talking to them imo, it wasn't like we the Guardians of the Universe are going to risk more GLs' lives for the sake of planet earth. Some of the money that was used on that bit should of been used on scenes that were suppose to be in the movie.

The scene didn't really make sense because Hal asked for their permission to fight Parallax despite him never having communicated with them before and them not giving the tiniest little ***** when he ran away with a power ring and lantern. God this movie was just bad.

I had no problem with Hal keeping the ring because its the ring that chooses the person, so by theory if it never makes a mistake than it will stick with Hal until he dies or something. I just wished there was some scene where he tries to give it back but Tomar-Re or Sinestro says it doesn't work that way.

No, it works....EXACTLY that way. They even did it in the original script, when he quit, he gave up his ring. They even did it in First Flight.

In the comics, and in the movie since it was never mentioned, shown, or hinted at. Sinestro is the first to go evil. So if we get a sequel we'll see, I imagine they just do what they do with any other threat though, use the other Lanterns.

Something that I really really really dislike is Hal quitting the GLC because of some guy he barely knows. As for Hal not knowing everything that is relevant to the GLC, I am just going to assume that the Guardians of the Universe doesn't want to update the stuff that went inside of him, that they don't want him to know too much automatically.

Doe's anyone know why Carol was crying after Hal left her place? I didn't get it at all. Also, doe's anyone find it funny how Carol went from believing in Hal because of what she told him in his apartment to crying because of the fact that Hal had to fight Parallax in the city near the end of the movie? It's like she lost her faith in him as a superhero.

It's like she's crying because she knows there's a possibility she won't see Hal ever again. He might die against Parallax. She even says it in the film.

She wants Hal to step up and be the Lantern he was chosen to be...but she doesn't want to lose him either.

It wasn't that hard at all to understand in the context of the film.

So I watched it again last night and I'm still a bit undecided.

I like the film. I don't think it's a total piece of junk.

But it could have been so much better if the storyline and pacing had been sorted out properly.

• I like the scenes on OA, and the way OA looks.
• The training montage was good.
• I felt they nailed Kilowog in terms of look and mannerisms. I also loved Mark Strong as Sinestro, both in his near perfect look and the sinister danger he emits.
• I like the green lantern suit they gave Hal, which although obviously CGi, looks alien and composed of energy - which it should. I know there were a lot of arguments about it, but I always felt a 2D comic panel is much easier to render than a 3D real life version of the suit - what they did works great in the context of the film.
• I like Ryan Reynolds as Hal Jordan. He's got the look and the attitude, and though he's still basically playing a version of himself, that doesn't mean he's not right for the role. He doesn't blow me away like Hemsworth as Thor, or Evans as Captain America, but that's perhaps because those guys are playing a character very removed from what they are like in real life. Reynolds ultimately is very similar to what Hal Jordan is written like.
• The energy constructs were rendered very well, just how I visualised them in my mind.

What I didn't like .....

• Hector felt wasted
• The numerous flaws with the whole Parallax storyline and lack of support from the rest of the Corps
• Parallax as a villain was too cloud-like, and thus suffered from that vague lack of presence which also plagued the Smoke monster in Lost, and Galactus in FF. The best villains have character.
• The poor pacing
• Some of the dialogue
• Poor exposition

I think the film deserves a sequel, and the chance to rectify some of the mistakes. With Sinestro as a villain, better pacing, and a more consistent feel (less obvious humour in places) I would certainly watch it. And hopefully with Hal developing his powers more, we would see more amazing constructs on screen.

I just watched this. I mean there's not much to say that hasnt already been said. CGI sucks, waste of talent (I wont actually say anyone gave a BAD performance IMO just bland), underwritten charcters, didnt make good use of characters. For me, theres nothing that would make me even want to watch this when Im bored.

Not the worst CBM, but still bad.
