Exactly my thoughts. Its certainly not the worst movie ever. But i didnt really enjoy it and there's nothing to make we wanna see it again. Part of the appeal of iron man was the effects and the humor. This had crappy effects and lame humor

Watching this movie again, there's very little of the feeling of Earth being in jeopardy and needing a superhero. Earth doesn't really know of the threat of Parallax. It's all very much the Corps worrying about the threat and Hal worrying about dealing with it himself. No one on Earth knows about it and when Parallax does show up it is quickly dealt with.

Also, there's no grand sense of the introduction of a superhero to the world. It happens very quickly with GL's first appearance at that party, but we don't get much of a reaction to the world finding out there's a Green Lantern/superhero. In Nolan's Batman, we see how much Gotham needs to do something about its problems, which is why Batman shows up.

Just watched the Extended Edition. It was a good movie. There were some things I would have done differently but for the most part, I enjoyed it. I hope there is a sequel so we can see Sinestro leading the yellow lanterns. I thought Ryan and Blake did well in their roles. I definitely want to see some more of Blake. t:

It's namely just the full scene of Martin Jordan's death. We're introduced to young Hal, Carol, Hector, Carl, and Jim. And we actually get to see Hal's Mother.

The added scenes do tie everything together better with all of Hal's relationships. And as a GL fan it's cool to just see more of stuff like Ferris Air hangars and more of Coast City life.

I saw it a couple days ago. Hal Gordon sort of exists as a 'non-character' in this movie, I actually think they'd have been better off with John Stewart as the lead character (don't know much about GL comics, but JS is much cooler in the JL toon than Hal is here). I don't really get Hal Gordon. Is he a cast off from top gun? A quitter? A underdog? An overdog?

It's never really made quite clear how his personal history informs on his superhero creed (in comparsion to Spider-Man, Batman, Superman, Iron Man, etc. who's motivation are easy to understand).

If the lead character fails, the movie fails.

The romance was painful. The romance in Thor was under written, but the the chemistry is undeniable. That's where casting can make a big difference.

Well said. Especially the last part. The romance in Thor wasn't written that well. But the chemistry between Hemsworth and Portman was ridiculous. She actually fancied him, there was no acting involved. She wanted to tap that ass!

I watched the movie on Direct TV Cinema tonight. It's not exactly the worst superhero movie ever made, but...

The storytelling was shoddy, the CGI was awful (why did they even bother making the suits entirely CGI when they just looked like cheap green glowing plastic), and the villains were laughably lame (the Paralax thing looked like a giant turd in space). At least Blake Lively was hot.

I am just being honest about what I actually thought about the film after watching it. I didn't say you had to agree with me.

I know that it's your opinion, it's just that I find it so out there and not an accurate complaint at all.

I didn't think it was necessary for the suits to have the glowing green throughout them. They could still be CGI, just more solid, the way we usually see them.

I liked the scenes and effects on Oa. I like the effects of the Central Power Battery, when Hal and Tomar-Re fly inside it. I liked seeing all the different aliens and Sinestro talking to them. Mark Strong is really very good.

I also liked the Guardians, but they were a bit vague. They should be mysterious, but not vague.

Unfortunately those scenes are the only ones I like to watch again. Hammond could've been more interesting as an outsider with a troubled past etc. but his villainy does become cartoonish and over-the-top at the end.

The suits should not have been CGI. You could've easily done the same exact thing with a practical suit, and it would've looked better.

I saw it in theaters once and wanted to give it another shot. Bought the DVD and watched it with my room mate, and we turned it off halfway through. It was worse than I remember it being, especially the acting and the music.

I think it's "out there" that you rate this mediocre movie above the vastly superior Thor, X-Men First Class and Captain America: First Avenger in your signature. I guess we're just on the opposite ends of the spectrum here, dude.

But I'd be interested to know what you honestly thought of the suits and the CGI rendering of them, because I personally thought it sucked.

I did like the approach with the CGI suits, and didn't find them to be plasticy. Thought they gave off the appearance of a energy constructed suit. I do agree that different method could've been used that would've been less expensive.

There is more to it, but I don't want to get into it because I've covered it countless times. Oh and thanks for making me sound like one of those Green Lantern fans that will watch and buy anything that is Green Lantern related. I'm not one of those types of Green Lantern fans.
Just like some of the others, you yourself have to get over the fact that there are GL fans out there who liked the movie more than you and the other GL fans did. And more than what Marvel Studios had to offer in theaters this past summer.
