Guardians of the Galaxy The Official Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 Rotten Tomatoes/Critic Reaction Thread

86%?

Screw that; I'll wait for the Ultimate Edition.

The extra 30 minutes of deleted scenes will fix all the problems and make it an instant classic. :awesome:

Marvel expects this to hit a billion, they won't be happy if its critical response stops it from achieving that.

Can you post the quote where "Marvel" said that it expects vol. 2 to make $1 billion? Please and thank you. :yay:

I do find it interesting that the same people- collider crew, for instance - always have chirped for "isolated, stand alone stories" yet have complained this film is "filler". Not belittling their opinions, just a theme I've noticed in these early reviews.

86% is still a great score. Many movies would go crazy for a rating like that.
And of course this second movie was going to have a hard time keeping up with the praise for the first one which was excellent. A great movie followed by a good one... I'm absolutely fine with it.:yay:

Isn't filler very different from a standalone story?

The critical response is, so far, just fine. I doubt there's ever been a movie that everyone loved.

Hey, hey, hey.....don't be mean. We don't have to be mean because, remember, no matter where you go......there you are.

Speaking of extended cuts that were REALLY good, Once Upon a Time in America qualifies. The short cut was not so good. The extended version was, IMO, one of the best movies ever made.

Not sure what to think at this point. I think the Top Critic rating is a bit more concerning than overall. However one review said it doubled down on every thing in the first one, which to me sounds like a good thing. Guess we'll find out.

Back to 87%! Does that mean we're all good again? :woot:

Haven't posted here yet but has it been the sky is falling because it's in the mid 80s? Dr Strange is at 90 and one of my favorite Marvel films and I know there are some who don't think it deserves it.

Only if take these films way too seriously, which thankfully I don't, sometimes anyway. I think that 87% rating is fairly solid, and if this had been a current DC film, we'd all be calling it a masterpiece anyway. Expectations can sometimes be a *****.

I thought Dr Strange was one of the two Marvel movies that suffered from the "shared universe" thing. Felt like they rushed it to get him ready for his appearance as a full character in other movies. Same with Cap 1...they had to get him in the ice to get ready for Avengers.

Phew, I don't have to wear a disguise now when I go see it in fear of ridicule! Up the 87%!

I would keep the disguise in the bag as the rating might change on your way to the cinema.

Were soo spoiled us marvel fans were panicking because a movie is in the 80's on rt, just go watch the movie and enjoy it. I plan to see it at least 2 or 3 times.

If this drops a percent lower than 85%:

Seriously. People weigh way too much on RT score. Look how rough DC fans have it once reviews started coming in for BvS and Suicide Squad.
