The Official Infamous Thread!!!

I really loved the demo and I think this is going to be a day one purchase for me.

So Cole only manipulates electricity not create it, right? Is it true if he falls into water, he dies? That's strange, I mean Pyro from Marvel (as far as I know) doesn't die if he falls into water 'coz like Cole, he only manipulates (fire) not create.

I thought he absorbed electricity. If not, I'm just going to pretend that's how it works because it makes slightly more sense.:woot:

I did not enjoy the demo, and i hate that, as this is such a cool concept. Everything just felt too 'floaty' and i wasnt crazy about alot of the animations. I also didnt think the city and its inhabitants looked very good.

It's just way too easy to die. And I have it on Easy too.

Seriously i died from chucking my own grenade and i was a few feet back wtf?!

I was frustrated with the game. There was no clear health bar, and it seemed I would die with the slightest damage. I might get this game one day when it is on sale.

I really didn't have a problem with the difficulty. I only died a few times in the beginning when I was still learning and getting used to everything.

The health system is the same as virtually every other action game nowadays. Meaning there is no health bar, your health just recharges. If you need health faster you can suck it out of cars, transformers, generators, or pretty much any electrical device in the game world. Or you can steal it from other people.

Your health is indicated by the coloring of the screen, not a health bar. The grayer the screen gets the more damage you're taking.

It is a little harder then I expected, but it's not that hard

Ditto. This health system is becoming the norm in the gaming world these days. I like it and prefer it over a standard life bar

Yeah that was pretty obvious, but it got a little ridiculous. It was like 3 hits and you were dead.

I don´t have a PS3, so, of course, i haven´t played the demo, but going with the reviews, the game is great for what it is (which i had the feeling it would).
I just think it misses in some areas, most of all in the superhero side.
The game works like a shooter, you even have electricity grenades and the bolts you shoot from your hands work exactly like if you had a shootgun or hadgun or something.
It´s extremely unoriginal in that.

Prototype looks way better on the superhero side than Infamous.

Still it´s a game i would like to get my hands on when i get a PS3

I think Prototype and inFamous will both be great in their own rights. I plan on picking up both of them.

How, because you can't run around and destroy the city? We knew that Cole wasn't a Hulk level superhero. All he can really do is absorb and project electricity. It's not like all he can do is shoot and throw electricity grenades. He uses it to fly/glide, make shields, shockwaves, etc. If the demo is any indication the game is going to work fine as a superhero game, just not the kind people seem to like the stereotype the genre into.

Prototype looks to me like it could be Venom/Carnage Ultimate Destruction. I don't know if I need a free roam, slaughter game.

It´s not about the stereotype/ mass destruction angle, but inFamous, to me, looks a bit like Crackdown, except that Crackdown actually has "real" guns and grenades.
Of course i´m talking about only i saw, so, experiencing it should be diferent, but the point is, if Cole didn´t had powers, it would be the exact same game, which in turn, makes the powers to be just a gimmick, like Sony wanted a game to go up against Crackdown (which, since i heard about Infamous, i have the idea that it was made for Sony to have their own Crackdown, which it isn´t necessarily a bad thing, mind that).

Well, what I've played of the demo was already significantly better then anything I played in Crackdown. I didn't like Crackdown at all, though many others seemed to. It's been a while since I've played Crackdown, but I don't remember it playing that much like InFamous. I would have to go back and play it to be sure, though.

I did like how easy it was to turn bad and just start sucking life out of old ladies.

Another difference was that Crackdown sucked.

It claimed to be a superhero game but turned out to be a GTA-wannabe game with high jumping abilities and fast running.

More science-fiction than superhero I'd argue. The only thing I was happy about it was the fact that it included the Halo 3 beta (and Halo 3 is awesome!).

But you couldn't you compare any hero's powers to something real and call it a gimmick or unoriginal?

Spider-Man's webs are just like rope. What a gimmick!

Cyclops' eyes are just like guns. How unoriginal!

You guys are missing my point, i´m not saying that the powers are gimmick or unoriginal, what i´m saying is that the way they are used in the game makes it feel gimmick and unoriginal.
By other words, Sucker Punch could have gone much further with the powers angle.
Of course, like i said, i´m talking about what i saw, not what i played, because i don´t have a PS3, so, when i have on, after i played it, i can very well change my mind.

It doesn't though. You're just taking two elements, the projectile thunderbolt and the electric grenade, and automatically labeling it a gimmick. How else are they going to do those two elements in the game. Obviously it's going to work like a gun because that's how his power works. Even if those two were gimmicky, what about the flying/gliding, the shockwave, the shield, the air stomp?

By your logic it would be impossible to implement those two things for any superpower in a 3rd person action game. For example, fire. It Cole had fire powers and shot fireballs out of his hand it would be gimmicky because that would work like a gun in a tradition 3rd person shooter. If he threw a fireball that exploded it'd be gimmicky because it would work like a grenade in a traditional third person shooter.

I mean, how would you do it?

I don´t know how i would do it, and you make sense, but, the first time i saw any footage from it, it looked extremely like a shooter.
I don´t know what, maybe is the animation, the way be runs around with his hand in front of him, with a crosshair in the middle of the screen; maybe is the familarity with GTA, maybe is the guy always playing sucks and doesn´t convey any dynamism to the fights.....but the point, is, for me, there is something missing.
And i don´t like the electric grenades...

God, this game (the demo anyway) is great.
I'm very happy with Cole's powers and its multiple upgrades and skills.
Prototype looks like a lot of fun, but crazier. inFamous seems more focused, and I'll wait for reviews, but I think inFamous will end up as the better game of the two.
Of course, if I'm wrong, I'll be buying Prototype as well.
To the guy that said Crackdown sucked: crack is bad for you.

After a few hours of smash and bash I guarantee that game will turn to ****. I am merely guessing but I would say Infamous is the superior of the two
