Iron Man The Official Iron Man FAQ

I don't think the suit will look all that much like the Granov design. It will probabaly be quite big and bulky, probably more in league with Ultimate Iron Man to fit in with the more "heavy metal" and "Robocop" feel as Favreau mentioned at Comic Con this year.

Actually the armor will be nearly identical to the current armor in the comics.

The latest on the McAdams rumor is that according to McAdams' publicist, the rumor itself has been declined.

Tuesday, December 12, 2006 - 10:07 AM Last week, several websites, namely my friends over at MOVIEHOLE.NET, mentioned that Rachel McAdams has been rumored for a part in TDK. McAdams was also said to be up for the role of "Pepper Potts" in IRON MAN. Well, according to McAdams fansite RACHELONLINE.NET, McAdams' publicist has shot down the IRON MAN rumor. What does this have to do with TDK? Probably nothing, but since 2007 is fast approaching, we'll find out soon enough...

Just speculating here, but IF McAdams does snag a role in TDK, what part will it be? What does this mean for the Rachel Dawes character and Katie Holmes returning?

Yeah. It's been a bit of a given that the Granov rendition of the armor, will in fact be seen on film. But not exactly as it's shown in the comics. Of course, it may have the same type of style. Considering Favreau has referred to it as a sort of flying suit. But he's also said that the symbol will change. Having more of a circle look, like the original gray suit debuted with. Rather the "current" shape, as depicted today.

Y'know, I wonder if we'll see the Stark, Pepper, and Happy angle?

It's probably not completely out of thought. We'll probably see it, or foreshadowed, and it'll expand with the sequel. Even though Favreau was toying with the idea of having a love interest for the first film, it may also be that someone else will take that part. Or, like the story developed in the comics, Stark and Pepper will secretly fall in love. But Tony, will end up remaining distant...and cold. Mainly due to being convinced that his metal chestplate, which he wore every hour of the day, could make any romance impossible. Then Pepper eventually turning to the attentions of Happy, and both beginning a relationship.

I agree 110%, Bats.

I'm also hoping we see Mandarin, like in the books.

Favreau already mentioned, that if Mandarin were to be the film's main villain, he wouldn't be portrayed as we all know him to be in the comics. Of course, this was before the announcement at Comic Con.

You'll see in the link I posted, that this particular page has been quite a popular choice for a scene in the film. And, IMO, it actually very well could be a great one. I can honestly see Downey wanting to get it done as well.

First page updated with the film's official website, which is now up. Favreau posted it on his group.

Is it true their going with a Robocop type bulkiness/suit? Won't movement be difficult? Iron man should move much more fluidly than Robocop.

I don't recall Favreau mentioning anything about the suit being something along the lines of Robocop, other than the actual film being a huge influence on this one. And he's also said that Iron Man will have plenty of movement...For when he's flying, fighting, etc.

My bad, misinterpreted the info.

I really don't get a feel for where Favreau is headed with this film. Is he making a comicbook movie in the same vein as Spider-man or is this going to be another case of a director doing his own thing or using the god-awful "realism" angle?

Not trying to be negative, but I've become a skeptic when it comes to the ability of H'wood to do these films properly. I guess I'm trying to come up with a visual reference of sort for the film. I know what the intentions are with Ghost Rider, they seem to be making a comicbook movie--fantasy, plain and simple. I think SM is the reference point considering it's coming from the same studio and the director truly is a fan of the source material ala Raimi.

The only thing I can come up with is either the cartoons or a possible comparison to the Rocketeer (for the flying sequences)--which I enjoyed for what it was.

For those planning on seeing the new animated Iron Man film, there is a new clip which can be viewed here.

I havent been able to find the design of the film's suit leaked out, for anyone who know about it and seen it, is it anything close at all like the comics??? just curious

The one on the left is from the comic, the right is the film version.

for those that didn't know, Stan Winston's studio is working on the suit. Stan Winston's done the Jurassic Park triology, Terminator triology, Aliens, Batman Returns, Predator 1&2, War of the Worlds, just to name a few.

Stan Winston! This film has just earned some big points.

Winston working on the suit is definitely a plus. He has a good repertoire of films he's been apart of.

First page updated with the announcement of Gwyneth Paltrow being confirmed to be playing Pepper. And for those who don't know...Filming will begin in March, instead of February.
