Hey guys,I've been off the monthly wagon for a good 6 to 7 months now.I've only been buying up trades here and there of different series from the past I've been meaning to read.

Trips to the LCS have been few and I am totally lost on what's going on.The titles I followed included Cap,DD,Thor,GL and Herc (which I dropped halfway thru Love and War).

Is it worth going back and picking up the issues I missed of these titles?Any other monthlies I should be aware of?

Nova and Guardians of the Galaxy have been awesome reads, if you dig the Space scene.

DD and Cap continue to be good although DD is switching from Ed Brubaker to Andy Diggle.GL is full speed ahead with Blackest Night and if you don't read the main Mini you might be lost.If you like Deadpool the Daniel Way series is pretty good.

Seconded.

Thor is really good, too. And it's been late a lot, so there aren't as many issues to pick up.

Mighty Avengers is well worth reading if you're into older-style Avengers stuff.

Fantastic Four is worth a look too. It's only two issues into the new creative team run, and it's looking promising. Anyone who was put off by Millar's run should consider getting back into the book.

Read Loeb's Hulk, Millar's FF, the Dark and New Avengers and a little War Machine in for good measure.

Fantastic Four for the reasons the guy 2 posts above me said.

Astonishing X-Men starts up again in a few weeks. If you never read the Whedon/Cassidy Astonishing X-Men, the hardcover Omnibus just came out. Very very good if you like X-Men.

GL- Blackest Night.

Lots going on in Batman. Morrison's Batman and Robin is great, as well as Red Robin. Pretty much anything and everything Batman right now :)

The last 10-15 issues of Amazing Spiderman have been pretty good, they are on time, alot going on, and writing is really good. Probably one of the best out there right now. DC is finally back on the forefront in my mind with Blackest night, good writing, great art, and finally a story I can understand....

Also, Kick Ass is super violent, but a good read. Mark Millar is sick with what hes doing there. But again, these issues are coming out 2 months apart, so hopefully a trade pops out soon

I wouldn't recommend reading AXM monthly unless you don't mind late books. I dropped it after Warren Ellis' first arc because it took 11 months for six issues to come out.

And yes, Batman and Robin is very good so far. I read the first issue of Rucka's Detective Comics and it looks really good too.

Nova, Guardians of the Galaxy, Incredible Hercules, Captain America, Thor, and Avengers: The Initiative are the ones I'm currently enjoying a lot on the Marvel side.

My list (from Marvel):

NOVA
GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY
For that matter, any space event named ANNIHILATION, ANNIHILATION CONQUEST or WAR OF KINGS
CAPTAIN AMERICA (the Brubaker run)
MIGHTY AVENGERS (as of issue #21)
AGENTS OF ATLAS
GHOST RIDER (as of Jason Aaron's run, which was at about issue #20 I think)
AVENGERS: THE INITIATIVE
X-MEN FIRST CLASS (and it's sequel series, UNCANNY X-MEN: FIRST CLASS)

Cap and DD are still amazing. Although DD is getting a new creative team with Andy Diggle and the guy who used to do X-Factor, but Brubaker left him with an awesome cliffhanger and Diggle is a pretty good writers. Hercules is still good too, the current story especially I'd say. I don't read GL.

I also enjoy Thunderbolts, which is also being written by Diggle. His run is almost over though. Brubaker and Epting recently started up a mini-series, The Marvels Project, which is pretty great to me so far. And Bendis has just started up Spider-Woman with Alex Maleev. I smell the next Daredevil. Also the Ultimate Comics line, just relaunched with Spider-Man and Avengers, has been a good restart so far.

And like everyone else has said, Batman & Robin is wonderful. So is Detective Comics.

Yeah, the new Ultimates are definitely worth taking a look at it. Agreed, especially the Avengers. Also, another one I thought of thats pretty good is Geoff Johns Superman Origins, only one issue out so far, but I really liked it. Its alot of what we already know, but a good fresh take on it.
