BvS The Official Jason Momoa Thread

Can someone please rename this thread :p

Yeah, it should be the Jason Momoa as some villain thread.

The Jason Mimosa as Aquaman thread...maybe?

I'd like to see him as Arthur. When you think about it, it makes sense that Atlanteans would look ethnically more similar to Pacific island inhabitants than a blonde haired white guy.

And yes I know Arthur is half human.

I think Momoa could look cool with long blonde hair.

I like it. I like him for the role far better than Johnson. I don't want Johnson for GL either. I'm with you that I want someone who is more stern. But Mimosa for Aquaman seems inspired and I'd love to see that. His turn as Khal Drogo (and Conan for that matter though the movie was horrible) totally convinced me he can play a badass warrior while saying FEW words.

This is amazing, and definitely has a look that Jason could pull off.

Blonde hair is part of Aquaman's backstory though.

Ummm....how so?

Atlanteans don't have blonde hair, thus they know when Arthur is born that he's not the son of the king/carries a curse (depending on the continuity). Thus he's left on Mercy Reef to be found and raised by his biological Father. 'Cause Atlanteans are ***** like that.

Well...hmmm....Are there any other variations on his origins where this is not the case?

Can anyone answer this about Arthur's origins?

Orin is the son of the Atlantean Queen Atlanna and a powerful wizard named Atlan. Every Atlantean was looking forward to a new heir to the throne, but there was a problem: Orin was born with blond hair, which Atlanteans considered to be a curse called the mark of Kordax. Every Atlantean but one wanted to destroy the child; the Atlantean was called Vulko who was one of the top scientists in Atlantis and had no time for myths.

I think that's the definitive origin.

^^Thank you!

I like Momoa with dark hair, so I hope they find some way to keep that and change that around a bit.

I'm guessing that everyone in Atlantis can have blonde hair and he has dark brown. :funny:

Just switch it around.

His hair is naturally light enough that if it's made into a dirty blonde it would still very much be a believable alteration.

Yeah, blond hair wouldn't look right on someone with a naturally dark complexion. So, if they go with Momoa, I suggest they leave his hair as is. If the studio wants Arthur to look traditional, however, they should just get someone who is actually blond or fittingly light enough in complexion to pull off that look.

Eh he's not that dark in terms of skin tone. His facial features are pretty ambiguous and his natural hair color isn't even that dark.

Turning him into a dirty blonde wouldn't look strange in my view.

I hear you, but I just don't see the point. Giving Mamoa blondish hair won't make him look more like traditional depictions of the character in my opinion.

Seems like the best route. :yay:

I agree...I like his hair dark, though I can see him looking very nice with a lot of blonde highlights.

Eh...he's got a darker complexion and blond would look strange on him. I agree about the dirty blonde, so maybe they could explain it that he looks...mixed...which would be sort of true of his real heritage and would fit.

He used to be on Baywatch with blonde-ish hair. Aquaman!

I just checked...my memory betrayed me. He didn't have blonde-ish hair in Baywatch. Sorry.

Still down with him as Aquaman though.
No worries....but I guess that means it's not settled. :woot:

I like him with dark hair.

Here's a little manip I did. Very quick and subtle color change. When I say dirty blonde I mean something very subtle not something insanely overt and jarring.

That way it looks like a water polo player/swimmers hair that has been altered by the sun, and other natural minerals/metals in the ocean.
