Because the other thread was closed due to its size I am starting this thread where you can continue the discussions of Joker costuming.

Thanks man, I come home and my keys no longer work hahahahaha!!!

Yep locked out. Besides so many of us do these costumes for other events, not just Halloween, so I guess its good to change the title of the thread.

I almost sh#t my pants when I opened the other thread and read that notice...thanks for restarting it, AZ!:woot:

Yes a new thread, good, in other news I am going to be selling my Joker overcoat and Pants for $300.00. Gonna post pics for anyone interested.

AZspidey, I'm so happy to see that you opened up another thread for all of us Joker costuming fiends! I felt like I got an eviction notice when I headed over to the old thread without realizing we were all locked out! Here's hoping that this thread becomes just as entertaining as the last one!

:batty: :batty: :batty: :batty: :batty:

Fabulous, thanks for opening another thread! I was all OMG until I saw this one, heh heh. That other thread is such a goldmine, I hope they don't wind up deleting it to free up space.

Btw Kelikala, you have a PM! :)

Well our business was not finished, so I knew it was gonna be a matter of time before a new thread opened up, so why not get right into it.

I was wondering, since this thread is starting over, if it wouldn't be a good idea to put together a FAQ with all the answers to the typical questions that someone like me (who doesn't frequent the thread daily :woot:) would ask. Links to vendors, pictures for reference, etc. Not to volunteer anyone, but it could go under AZspidey's intial post and that way visitors could get the answers to their questions without clogging up the thread.

Just an idea.

*edit - if something like this already exists somewhere, please excuse my ignorance. :)

The other thread is a HUGE goldmine for anyone putting together a Joker costume, so I am quite sure it will still be around... we just won't be able to post in it anymore, which is why I'm so happy to see that a new one was started so quick! Joker costuming is SERIOUS BUSINESS YA KNOW... :hehe:

KillerQueen77 - Received your PM and responded :woot:

THE JOKER COSTUME BUYING GUIDE

Here you will find a compiled list of all the places where you can buy quality items for your Joker costuming needs. I will be putting links to some of the places where MANY of us have purchased clothing and accessories for our Joker costumes. Prices will range from high end to low end to suit everyone's budget.

HIGH END JOKER CLOTHING LINE

Mognoli Clothiers - http://www.magnoliclothiers.com/advanced_search_result.php?keywords=joker

You can purchase your ENTIRE Joker costume here if you're looking for the most screen-accurate, top of the line products. Mognoli sells the shirt, tie, gloves, blazer, overcoat, vest (waistcoat), pants and shoes. The entire ensemble will cost you about $2,000 with shipping added in.

Tabio - http://www.tabio.com/uk/detail/joker-socks-large_25354.html

Official supplier of the Joker socks used in the movie. One pair costs £16.00

Braces - http://tinyurl.com/jokerbraces

Designed by Albert Thurston. Cost £22.00

MEDIUM END JOKER CLOTHING LINE

Utopia Base Store - http://utopiabase.com/index.php?cPath=66

Here you can buy an overcoat, vest and hex shirt for $229. Each item can also be purchased separately. If you would like other options, you can find other retailers on eBay who also sell these items from anywhere between $60-$200. Some sellers that specialize in just the overcoats are listed below...

http://www.redballs.com/id87.html $200
http://www.ecrater.com/product.php?pid=2994522 $110
http://tinyurl.com/hellocosplayjcoat $138

LOW END JOKER CLOTHING LINE

Grand Heritage Joker Costume – http://www.tinyurl.com/grandheritagejoker

For $160 you can get a somewhat decent costume in a bag that will work in a pinch. If you would rather spend less money, you can even find a Deluxe Joker costume in a bag at most Halloween costume shops or online for around $50.

Also, don’t forget to scour local Goodwill stores or thrift shops. Speaking from experience, I was able to find my ENTIRE Joker costume at Goodwill and I spent less than $30 on everything, including the coat, vest, shirt, pants, shoes and braces. Remember, clothing can be dyed and altered to suit your needs!

NURSE JOKER CLOTHING LINE

The nurse uniform that Joker wears in the movie appears to be of a British design and there are very few retailers from the UK who will ship this dress to the US. However, if you have a friend that lives in the UK who could ship it to you, this works well in your favor. If not, you’ll have to resort to putting your own dress together through a supplier here in the states.

British Dress - http://www.internet-workwear.co.uk/acatalog/Alexandra_Ladies_HealthCare.html

These dresses ARE NOT available with pink piping, so you’ll have to add it yourself.

US Dress - http://www.allheart.com/di60110.html

Closest three pocket dress that has been found to date.
Pink piping can be purchased from any craft or fabric store for less than $2.00

BANK HEIST JOKER CLOTHING LINE

This outfit is fairly easy to put together. The bank heist Joker is just a simple gray suit paired with a medium brown patterned dress shirt, black leather gloves and brown running shoes.

The closest shoes I could locate to replicate the shoes Joker is wearing during the bank heist are these... http://www.shoes.com/Shopping/ProductDetails.aspx?p=EC1114643&pg=5075668

http://www.buycostumes.com/Batman-Dark-Knight-Child-Deluxe-Joker-Clown-Mask/32998/ProductDetail.aspx

The child size is the most recommended, as the adult sized masks tend to lay on your face like a deflated basketball. You can also find some homemade masks on eBay if you're willing to pay a steep price for them.

Joker Duffel Bag -
http://www.hatcastle.com/store/p/2043-SQUARE-DUFFEL-BAG.html

http://www.robbinssports.com/sporti...ster-small-gear-style-417-gym-bag-p-2144.html

This is not an easy item to find an exact match of, so it's easier just to make due with what is available online.

MISCELLANEOUS JOKER CLOTHING ITEMS

Chain - a simple wallet chain works perfect, or you can make your own with hobby chain purchased at a home improvement store such as Home Depot, Lowes or Menards. Some craft and hobby stores sell chain as well. The end of the chain when looped up, should stop just above your knee.

Extra Buttons - after wrestling with Batman in the interrogation room, Joker loses the top two buttons from his vest. He replaces these with a smiley face flower button and a mercury dime button, which can be seen on the vest after Joker escapes from jail. You can purchase those buttons at the links provided below...

Mercury Dime Button - http://www.firemountaingems.com/details.asp?PN=H202918FD - just paint it gold

Smiley Flower Button - http://www.ascuteasabutton.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=CB1&Product_Code=JHB-23195&Product_Count=&Category_Code

Gloves - http://www.buycostumes.com/Batman-Dark-Knight-The-Joker-Gloves-Adult/32979/ProductDetail.aspx

For other glove options see Mognoli clothing above or google purple leather gloves/black leather gloves. If it comes down to it, you can even make or paint a pair of gloves to suit your needs!

JOKER MAKE-UP PRODUCTS

Any product you buy can produce FANTASTIC results if you're willing to put the work into it. Cheap make-up works just as good as the expensive stuff if you put some thought and detail into your work! Make-up can be purchased almost anywhere around Halloween time and it can also be found online or at any local costume shop. Basic supplies include clown white face paint, black face paint and deep red lipstick. Other options include liquid latex and rigid collodion for making your own scars.

Deluxe Make-Up Kit With Wig - http://www.buy.com/retail/product.asp?sku=209248659&listingid=50935219

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

JOKER HAIR PRODUCTS - WIGS AND COLORING

Finding the perfect Joker Wig has been somewhat of a difficult task, however some people have had a bit of luck altering the licensed Joker wig that can be found online and in most costume stores.

http://www.buycostumes.com/Batman-Dark-Knight-The-Joker-Adult-Wig/32992/ProductDetail.aspx

If you don't have long enough hair for the job, a quick Google search for wigs can provide you with many retailers that might have something to suit your needs. If you have longer hair, simple hair spray coloring can turn your lovely locks into a disgusting green Joker mop of hair. Recommended hair spray colors for dirty blond-dark brown hair are yellows and dark greens. Florescent green is a big NO NO unless your going for the comic book/animated style Joker. Other options include dying your hair with semi-permanent hair dye, or by using Disguise Stix. Links below...

http://www.buycostumes.com/Face-Painting-Makeup-Disguise-Stix/2097/ProductDetail.aspx

Also, to get the greasy/curly look, wet your hair and add hair pomade or gel and scrunch it up. You can even add a bit of vegetable oil as well.

JOKER WEAPONS

If you want to save yourself the hassle of trying to figure out EACH AND EVERY weapon used in this film, just visit the website below...

A good portion of the guns can be found at Airsoft gun retailers. Some others will have to be made as custom props. Links to other weapons that can be purchased online can be found below...

Pennyworth I'd have to say that if anyone here is going to go SA then there here are some good links: Looking for that SA suit, tie, gloves and shoes? Then the search is over: magnoliclothiers.com. Looking for slightly cheaper but SA shirt and vest? Check out the e-bay store "A Cosplay Life For me". Priscilla is a fantastic seamstress, and produced my fantastic SA vest and shirt with my specific measurements. stores.shop.ebay.com/a-cosplay-life-for-me Need a great shade of white, black and red? Mehron has a the "Evil J Character" kit that is fantastic, I used it myself for SDCC09. Stop over and check out the folks at mehron.com ...and now back to the "Rockford Files", already in progress.

It is a good idea, but unfortunately whether it is on the first page or the last some people just dont search or read through the thread. Therefore we will always be answering the same questions. But it will be good for anyone that is willing to do a little research and reading. So I say lets do it, but dont be surprised when the same "where do I find this" question comes up.

This is a BRILLIANT idea! I'm willing to reserve this space ( since it's still on the front page ) to post links in for various items related to both costumes (regular attire and nurse attire) for The Joker. If anyone wants to send me links to other things via a PM I'd be willing to add those too as they come in!

Thanks

This is exactly the sort of info I'm talking about.

Of course you can't avoid all questions, sometimes people are just lazy...and honestly, the size of that last thread was fairly intimidating in terms of looking for answers, but I think something like this could help a lot visitors, especially with Halloween coming up. And, if a mod could add to the thread title : FAQ on Page 1 that would also help.

I'll see what I can dig up, obviously if you are willing to shell out the big bucks, magnoli is the way to go, but there are countless options for a "recession" proof outfit!

Thanks for reebooting the thread! I set up a new one without realising this one was here. As Keli said, i hope this one is as productive.

I'm a little annoyed today, i went to get my haircut and was very pleased with it etc, etc until i got home and forgot that i'd spent the last year costuming as a certain mid-to-long haired supervillain, and realised that without a wig i may very well be out of action for a few months :csad: I still have the mannequin to improve though!!

See, this is what happens when I leave for one day. ONE DAY people! Everything goes to pot.

EDIT - And as soon as I saw I had more than one PM, I knew something was wrong, LOL. I even guessed that the old thread had been locked/deleted. LOL!

EDIT 2 - I agree, people will still ask the same questions no matter what.....And to be honest, I'm happy to answer them. Or at least point them in the right direction for the answer. "All it takes is a litte....PUSH!"

Or all else fails, when people ask questions (what's the first rule about Joker Club?), you guys could post a link to the first thread. LOL. :p ;)

EDIT - For any Joker Nuggets lookin' around, be sure to check out Keli's new page! :

I had 80 posts in the old joker costume thread.

Good memories. Good progress.

Good to see people are still doing this.

I guess we broke Superherohype!

So new thread new title (good choice AZspidey).

I was in my local Tabio shop today and they still have a large section dedicated to the Joker socks. It's still quite surreal going into the mens section and seeing shelf upon shelf of Joker socks. I gotta keep away in future, I mean how many pairs do I really need.

I still need to order mine....

*jealous of people who have local Tabio shops* :(

So...is this ALL Magnoli?

NoTsOsErIoUs - I've seen a lot of your posts in the old costume thread, I take it you're from England? Where do you get your gear, is it ordered from the US? Your costume is incredible. Your whole look is just totally spot on, mate (not to kiss your arse or anything, ha ha!)

I can tell the blazer isn't, cause it's only a two button one like the one I use...But hey, Body By Joker, don't be postin' in the "no discussion-photo thread" in the other forum, LOL. :p ;)
