X-Men The Official MCU X-Men News and Discussion Thread

I'm also looking at the recent news about Reynolds writing a new projects with 4 new X-Men characters. And don't tell me they're giving him Z-list characters like TNW because Logan, Gambit, Colossus, Cable, Domino and Laura ain't Z-list.

I understand the disney logic behind this. His movie made a billion being rated r (and without china? idr), so of course they'll be giving him more and more creative control.

No, I'm absolutely not saying Reynolds would be involved with the X-Men, but I feel like even a project like X-Force should have something to say. But if dancing to a late 90s early 00s hit makes a billion, that's where Marvel is going.

Anyway, what I want to say is I'm concerned for mutant properties in general.

Let's start the prayer circle now, my friend.

I wouldn't mind seeing a X-Force hunting down young Apocalypse.

"The X-Men do not kill. But when Apocalypse - the mutant despot who has countless times brought humanity to the brink of destruction - returns, Wolverine knows there's only one solution: the recently reconstituted X-Force! The new team - consisting of Deadpool, Archangel, Psylocke and Fantomex - must destroy En Sabah Nur. But can Wolverine's secret team survive Apocalypse's deadly Final Horsemen? And even if they do, can they kill the reborn Apocalypse when the greatest threat the world has ever faced is now no more than an innocent child?"

X-Force in Deadpool 2 wasn't promising. So I wouldn't be excited if he gets another chance with the X-Force.

There were a X-Men team in those movies despite the movies being shown as "Wolverine and the X-Men".

Have you seen Thunderbolts*? Its basically Thunderbolts in name only, especially they are now marketing it under a different title. Thats not a film that wants people to view it as an actual Thunderbolts movie.

I’d say just put Deadpool on the Exiles with Blink and whatever other Z-listers they want to use. Maybe even Channing Tatum’s Gambit.

Just keep them away from the X-Men reboot.

I wonder if they would stop the X-Men characters from appearing in Deadpool movies as supporting characters.

D1- Colossus, Negasonic (heavily changed), Vanessa (Copycat in X-Force)
D2- Cable, Domino, Shatterstar, Vanisher, Bedlam, Juggernaut, Firefist
D&W- Gambit, Cassandra, the Wolverine, X-23, Pyro, Sabretooth, Toad

And for the next movie, there's at least 3. They should use Hit Monkey instead, and characters who are mostly exclusive to Deadpool comics.

The type of mentality we needed for mutants:

He's making money for Marvel. They're not limiting him to Z-lists.

But it would be cool if they did, because they did a good job with NTW.

I would like to think Feige would want to save Apocalypse for the X-Men themselves.

Not really.

Negasonic Teenage Warhead wasn't even faithful. She was only chosen to appear in the film because of her weird codename, thats what the writers said. And then they created a whole new character with the permission of Disney/Marvel. Disney asked for the film rights of Ego (who appeared in GOTG 2). And this new version of Negasonic was integrated in the comics because the movie was successful.

I'd rather see them adapt a Z lister faithfully than just use their name, and make a complete different character for the movies. Of course nobody complained about Negasonic because she's a d lister and the movie was good. But I remember seeing her in Astonishing X-Men.

I wouldn't mind that. I was just proposing it would be nice to see Apocalypse get a fairer display on the big screen than his last one. I also wouldn't mind seeing some more of Mr. Sinister with his genetic tampering/manipulation.

I would like to think Feige has plans for characters that Fox screwed over in the past, which includes Apocalypse. But using a kid/younger Apocalypse in a Deadpool movie, would probably hinder Apocalypse's chances of appearing in a X-Men movie as the main villain later on.

Like I doubt we would ever see Cassandra Nova fight against the X-Men/the Professor in a X-Men movie, after D&W.

So, if we compile all of Sneider's "scoops", that gives us the following characters so far:

Cyclops
Jean Grey
Storm
Beast
Rogue
Gambit
Kitty
Jubilee
Angel or Iceman ?

Seems like they're doing to OG five + a few others to round out the team. Kitty and Jubilee are both 15, so they could be in the younger class.

I wouldn't even use Exiles as the next supporting characters for Deadpool.

I'd use characters that are only prominent in Deadpool comics, so it won't affect the chances of characters like Blink to appear in a X-Men movie later on.

For the umpteenth time, it's not. With the exception of the Sentry, every single member has been part of the roster in the comics.

@Scarlet Spider yea im sure, read the comics.

I'd be happy if they brought in Joanna Calo to rewrite the script (if needed). I liked her work for Thunderbolts.

I haven't seen any news on that front, though.
After reading what they removed from Eric Pearson's script, bringing Joanna Calo to rewrite the script wouldn't be good news to me. I think what they did to Taskmaster was bad. Ghost and John Walker seemed like they had more role in the original script. And there's Bucky.

Sure, but a parallel can be drawn between some of the stuff tackled in Thunderbolts and the X-Men usual struggles. Characters not fitting in, society outcasts, the human struggle… plus juggling a team of unlikely characters… It’s probably not the most exciting directorial choice but one that sort of fits the mold, has successfully worked with the house…
Well I am hoping his next movie after Thunderbolts is even better, and I hope he doesn't use the same color grading he used for Thunderbolts*. The colors looked so muted.

An Exile film has plenty of opportunity for additional cameos from familiar faces—you could even have Deadpool & his Exile squad running into the new MCU team.

This would be best X-Men movie ever to me.
