X-Men The Official MCU X-Men News and Discussion Thread

Would you guys be interested in the X-Men being set on an alternative universe ala FF? It seems by films end they'll be crossed over anyway but would the idea appeal to anyone?
I feel like if we hadn’t already have x-men first class I would be more interested in this pitch but we do so I kind of don’t want to do it again.

Plus, the metaphor of diversity being good and bigotry being bad, we kind of need that now. Now is the perfect time for an x-men film

At this point I want to see mutants being part of the wider Marvel universe. I think the world is ready for that now.

I don't think Cassandra Nova was chosen because she's an X villain, that sounds ridiculously to say obviously I think the context in which she was used in the film is completely different than to even how she'd be used in a "regular" X-Men film.

Thinking about it further though it's almost guaranteed that it'll be the F.O.H no? They're the easiest villains to use as bad without reason and are essentially canon fodder with whatever choice of Evil head leading the group. Allows plenty of time for the team proper, although they're kind of a boring choice on paper.
Umm they totally used her because she is a X-Men villain and even connected to the Professor, despite sharing no on screen time with the Professor.

No.

Secret Wars and The Multiverse Saga should be done first.

We are also already dealing with the mutants coming from the Multiverse with the appearances of Hugh Jackman, Kelsey Grammer, Ryan Reynolds, Sir Patrick Stewart and countless Foxverse actors.

thank god we have X-Men 97.
Polaris and Havok confirmed/shown on the teaser of season 2. (Im sure there will be more recruits, but having Alex and Lorna alone is satisfying)

Given the stories being adapted, I would not be so quick to be excited.

Except everything Feige and Iger have said about "messaging" in their movies. So, good luck getting that X-men.

+ Eternals and The Marvels not doing well
+ The industry history with diversity and female characters
+ Marvel's insanely embarrassing cashgrab decision for Avengers 5
+ Deadpool and Hughverine doing big number for them

We know what type of ideas they get from this. We know where this is likely going.

A. Eternals didn't really need a movie in hindsight, lets be real.

B. Deadpool & Wolverine brought back Blade, Elektra and X-23 with the people that played them in the past.

C. RDJ being cast as Doom has no direct result to Marvel Studios' X-Men as of today. Unless you are sure they will cast him as Magneto, and the likes of Scarlett will play Karma, Psylocke, Jubilee and Cecilia Reyes. Then you might have a point...

Was just watching Eternals this morning and I still really like it 🫣

But yeah I'm slightly cautious about character selection and whatnot. They took some liberties with Spider-Man and his supporting characters for his MCU adaption, the Fantastic Four seem to be a more straightforward version of them.
So I wonder if the MCU X-Men will feel the need to be drastically different from previous incarnations or instead double down on the "basics" I guess

I mean they also did Black Panther so let’s not predict doom before they’ve even started filming. I mean, x-men 97 was progressive. I think people are predicting the apocalypse when that’s not necessarily the case

Iger and Feige weren't talking about "messages" in their movies 2 years ago.

I'd argue that RDJ as doom was already... doom (no pun intended) for some people.

I'm ready to eat my words, but I'm calling: Wolverine will be the RDJ of the X-Men. It's a safe and popular cashgrabing choice that might get some fans annoyed, but the general audience will certanly be delighted.

x-men 97 was progressive
For the MCU standards, it was. But they fired the guy behind it. And hired the guy behind the lame ass What If...

Victoria Alonso clashed with Disney for pushing for queer representation. We are, after all, talking about the Don't Say Gay Disney.

Can they marry each other and go live together somewhere already?

After Twisters, I’d give Lee Isaac Chung a shot if he’s interested in the director’s chair.

Beau wasn't fired for being progressive though. We still don't know the exact reasons but by all accounts he was... uncomfortable.. to work with

Will MCU X-Men be as LGBT friendly as '97? Definitely not. But I think y'all are really counting them out already when we have no idea what their plans are. I miss the days we gave Feige a little bit of the benefit of the doubt.

They'll probably focus more on racial diversity than sexual, but the MCU movies have been very sex-free regardless, hetero or otherwise. Cap got what, a couple awkward kisses, and the last time RDJ had (off-screen) sex was back in the Paramount days.

A trilogy for Deadpool & Wolverine is a no brainer given how it grossed a billion already after just 1 movie.

Marvel Studios' X-Men could be just the X-Men without Deadpool and Wolverine, and that would be great.
Wolverine will end up in the X-Men movie also. The lesson won't be keep Wolverine with Deadpool and only Deadpool. The lesson is going to be put Wolverine in as many movies as possible. Just like they did Iron Man
