X-Men The Official MCU X-Men News and Discussion Thread

Jeff Sneider also hinted at the end of his podcast that he’s hearing Denzel Washington will be playing Professor X.
If he took the role it would slay.

I reckon Denzel would be really good at that nuanced version of Charles, like the fatherly ness but maybe not 100% reliable

If they are casting her now, that would likely mean she is going to appear sooner than we think.
I doubt it. Marvel Studios usually plans these things, sometimes almost way too ahead of time (Blade).

Though I wouldn't cross off the possibility of some of the X-Men being played by non-Fox actors in Secret Wars and Doomsday, similar to Mr. Fantastic in Multiverse of Madness.

An X-Men Evolution route with MCU X-Men would be interesting. They introduced Spider-Man as a teen in Civil War. Could we be getting the O5 as teens with maybe characters like Storm and Wolverine as adults/teachers, and mixing up some people's ages to create a fresh dynamic?
A younger team and mutants being a new phenomena has always made sense from an in-universe perspective. It just depends on whether or not they use Secret Wars to retcon the X-Men as having been around the whole time or they ferment the seeds they've planted so far.

Jeff Sneider also hinted at the end of his podcast that he’s hearing Denzel Washington will be playing Professor X.
He was hinting at Magneto. But why would Magneto be in Black Panther 3?

Denzel said “Ryan Coogler is writing a script for his character” unless Coogler is getting the X-Men gig, pretty sure is BP3 role is one and done. Which is should be.

I'm so tired of Magneto appearing in every single X-Men movie.

X-Men (2000)
X2 (2003)
The Last Stand (2006)
First Class (2011)
Days of Future Past (2014)
Apocalypse (2016)
Dark Phoenix (2019)

He even played a substantial role in X-Men '97.

Exactly. I'm stoked to see him in various MCU movies, not just X-Men.

I think young to mid 20's is probably best for longevity. I wouldn't mind the Evolution route but I want all ties to be severed to the fox-verse. So maybe older Mentor Wolverine but not Hugh's Wolverine.

The X-Men movie should take a break from the Wolverine and Magneto. The X-Men world is larger than those characters.

Most of the times, the very early casting rumors end not being the case, but its interesting to start hearing casting rumors this soon, its good to read it, seems like things can start moving pretty soon.
Im not surprised Feige and co. have an eye on most Stranger Things cast, along with other popular shows (most studios do). Sadie doesnt seem like a bad choice per se, but as I said, I doubt she will end landing the role. Time will tell, tho.
24-26 years old actors for the first movie sounds like a smart choice, taking into account the huge potential of the X-Men franchise at Marvel Studios, so the younger the lead cast, the bigger the journey and longevity.
24-26 would be already older than Apocalypse x-men, so thats a positive in my book.

FWIW, Sadie is currently the same age Jean was in the comics when she became the Phoenix.

Sadie Sink is 5'2 according to Google search. I prefer a taller actress for Jean Grey. She would be more fitting as Shadowcat.

I don't know that I need Jean to be tall, I think it really depends on who's on the team with her.

I haven't seen the later seasons of Stranger Things but watched the Whale today and obviously her character there is entirely different to Jean but she came across convincing.

All that being said even if she does end up being Jean it's not exactly a far fetched rumor for someone to make up, not saying it's untrue just saying.

Jean needs to look imposing especially if they aim her to be the Phoenix later on. Sadie Sink looks quite soft as Jean. Famke Jannsen looked the part, not only because she was tall, but she had this regal/imposing look, which was also noticeable in other movies she appeared in.
