X-Men The Official MCU X-Men News and Discussion Thread

Sadie Sink is 5'2 according to Google search. I prefer a taller actress for Jean Grey. She would be more fitting as Shadowcat.

I think if they are casting Sink as Jean, they are wanting to play up the young/teenage aspect. Similar to when they first cast Tom Holland as Spider-Man, to make him look more like a teen.

Which I don't think is right. I don't want the X-Men to look as young as Tom Holland. It would be weird seeing them (Cyclops, Storm, Jean, Rogue, Beast) younger than most Avengers. Iceman, Jubilee, Shadowcat, okay... but most of the team shouldn't look like they came out from College or still taking their degree.

Jean needs to look imposing especially if they aim her to be the Phoenix later on. Sadie Sink looks quite soft as Jean. Famke Jannsen looked the part, not only because she was tall, but she had this regal/imposing look, which was also noticeable in other movies she appeared in.
I agree on your feelings on both, I'm just not sure with them potentially casting so young. If imposing is something they're even considering for Jean.

It is something they should consider. They might want to adapt Phoenix later on and she would be heavily compared to Famke Jannsen and who knows if they include Famke in Secret Wars. There should be some female representation from the Fox-Men era in Secret Wars.

If anyone asked me right after the Fox acquisition I would have Rather not had X-MEN than teenage X-MEN, but with all the main MCU Avengers phased out I don't really need to see them fully Crossover anymore.

I'd almost prefer if Marvel Studios just kept the X-MEN in a separate universe but made the movies competently.

I think we'll only get Halle back if any of the X-Ladies from the Fox-Era but that's because Fox just didn't adapt many X-Women.

I understand the contracts are separate between Fox and Sony as Marvel Studios fully owns the Mutants now but I can't help but think they'll treat X-Men similar to Spider-Man in that they'll want the portrayals to be wildly different than the previous ones.

I don't think Sadie is a bad or good choice I just think she's a choice that Marvel would make. You know?

Thats not gonna happen under Disney. Cross-over sells, especially if done right.

First of all, happy holidays to all!

Second of all, I want Jean to wear a pony tail.

Jean with a pony tail = supreme yas queen version of Jean. :o

I think if Marvel is interested in starting off with the 05 as teens, its teens in the modern day (as opposed to the 80s, as was the case in Apocalypse). Possibly teens who have grown up in the MCU with the Avengers as the main heroes. I wouldn't rule out the OG X-Men (Famke, Marsden, etc) passing the torch to them in Secret Wars.

I wouldn't mind late teens/early 20s for the first group of X-Men. If they stick around as long as most of the Avengers, there's a lot of growth possible there.

If you think about it, it makes far more sense to introduce the core X-Men cast as teens/young adults than it does as thirty somethings who've been doing this awhile, because the question then becomes... "where have you ****ers been all this time?"

With the multiverse in play, there's a lot of excuses they could make.

I just don't want to wait several years again to see a well experienced X-Men. Well in foXverse, we only got a glimpse of it, but they weren't super experienced in battle. See how limited the action was in X2, X3 and DOFP, and how it was always Wolverine appeared as the stongest.

We aren't going to get a well experienced X-Men for several films, if Cyclops, Jean, Storm, Rogue are only 19 in the reboot - unless they do a big time jump and the X-Men are as battle ready as Thor and Black Widow.

I think it’ll be adult heroes with at least one younger teen character (plus a full class backdrop of Xavier school students that can feature in a Xavier Academy Disney+ series like Armor, Kid Omega, Glob, etc.).

Just go O5+Storm, and make Iceman the younger character. If Hugh Jackman is lingering around, he can be fill a role similar to X-Men: Evolution.

- Professor X (headmaster)
- Logan / Wolverine (combat instructor)
- Cyclops (team leader)
- Storm
- Jean Grey
- Beast
- Angel
- Iceman (POV character)

Maybe Dafne Keen is in the mix (if Logan’s there), but maybe she’s still young enough she could be in the student group.

I rebuke that teen X-Men energy.

They already got Spider-Man, don't do it to the mutants :sneeze:

I doubt we get teenage Cyclops, Jean, and Storm

I doubt Wolverine will be in this but their best option is still to use Dafne Keen.

Especially if we're getting teen X-Men again.

Oh we're definitely getting Wolverine again.

I could see one of two things: Jackman will be around regardless, but his Variant could either join the team or stay in Deadpool's corner of the MCU, or they just get a 616 Wolverine with a new actor.

If they are planning mixing different universes or whatever, I'd actually love if the X-Men is already somewhat stablished, like '97 or even '92.

I predict there will be a massively popular demand to see Jackman's Logan in the X-Men movies.

His Logan was already popular before and the MCU tripled it down.

Agreed. We don’t need to see the origins of the X-Men again. We saw in First Class, then again in Apocalypse. And we already got a sense in the first X-Men. It’s practically Martha’s pearls or Krypton blowing up at this point—Xavier and Magneto have differing ideologies, and Xavier opens a school. Now let’s get to the story.

Right?

Only Rogue I'd like to see starting as a brotherhood member. Despite that, I'm good.

I’ll allow it. Though, admittedly, I think Rogue and her arc with joining/defecting from her mother and the Brotherhood would be perfect for a Disney+ series. Then she meets Remy and fights the Assassin’s Guild in Season 2.
