X-Men The Official MCU X-Men News and Discussion Thread

After the pandemic and the Hollywood strikes, Marvel has stopped making big announcements. The last movie slate we received was years ago. WONDER MAN went into production with zero official announcements about it. They're currently not announcing any cast members for Avengers 5 & 6. We know zilch about what movies are even in the pipeline.

It makes me wonder how far along the X-Men film is. It's an obvious priority, and all the signs point to it going into production in the near future. For all we know, they already have a director.

Ive been thinking about this posibility this past week. Who knows? maybe a director is close to sign at least. I hope that to be the case, if the casting rumors have some truth. Because Im not a fan of just Feige and producers casting the main X-Men without a director having a say. That doesnt feel right in my book. Neither do I want the Russos to pick the whole cast, no man.
I hope a director is confirmed before summer.

The truth is that you aren't casting for one movie or one movie franchise, you are casting characters for an entire universe. The X-Men are not going to be stuck in their own bubble, they are going to be interacting with the rest of the Marvel universe. Other directors on other Marvel movies are going to be dealing with them.

Think of it this way: Ryan Cooglar didn't cast T'Challa/Black Panther, and Jon Watts didn't cast Peter Parker/Spider-Man. Because those characters appeared elsewhere before their movies.

Exactly. And Marvel has a VERY experienced casting director who has rarely missed.

This all seems very sudden, but I guess we’ll see where it goes.

It feels that way because Marvel has been tight-lipped since 2019. LOL.

Cynthia Erivo randomly mentioning Storm was my first inkling that things were happening. She knows something we dont.

There's been reports for awhile that they gearing up for an X-Men movie in 2027. Last year Production Weekly even had a production start date as late 2025 for it. So all these casting reports recently just adds more credence to that.

I could see them scheduling it for late July 2027, but Christmas 2027 feels ideal.

I've basically seen the rumored actors and actresses in other projects, and they'd all be good in their parts.

I guess Dickenson as Cyclops is the choice that throws me a bit.

He was great in Baby Girl, and as a huge Beatles fan, I really look forward to him tackling playing John Lennon.

But I almost feel like I'd be more interested in seeing him play another role like Bond, or a solo Marvel or DC Superhero, as opposed to a member of a team.

Don't get me wrong, I'd be fine with his casting as Cyclops , and given his rising star, I could see them wanting him more than Jack Champion , whose also good as well.

Champion would actually make a pretty good Iceman imo .

There is a grace, poise and confidence that Erivo possesses that would make her a fabulous Ororo… BUT I think they're going to cast Storm closer to Scott and Jean’s age.

what is your take on this potential casting as Kitty Pryde, yall?

the "sad" thing is that she will turn 16 this year, and by the time they film next year, she'll be 17, so basically a 18 years old Kitty.
Id honestly would love a 14-15 years old Kitty. That would be a bold move and something not seen on Fox old X-Men movies: a very very young mutant joining the team. Most studios sign +18 actors for these projects, and to me, it really takes away part of the magic/charm.

I'm afraid of who Marvel Studios might pick to write and direct the movie.

Reading Julia Butter's IMDB page, she's already worked with the Russos on The Grey Man, so if they are involved in the X-Men movie as producers or are casting them for appearances in these Avengers movies, that is interesting that she's already worked with them in the past.

yeah, I noticed that too. Seems like the signs were right there. She has a pretty impressive filmography being that young. Im impressed. Now I really want her as Kitty, damm, lol.
this will be a very long and hard journey until official casting news next year :whoops:

I still like Lee Isaac Chung (Minari, Twisters) for director.

Sneider also mentioned that Marvel had a meeting with Tom Glynn-Carney, but wasn't sure what role it was for.

Angel, perhaps?

As much as I enjoyed Twisters, his cowardice in avoiding two key words in meteorology disqualifies him from X-men.

I was about to say “or Quicksilver” before I remembered that the goddamn Maximoffs got taken care of a full decade before anyone else in the X-corner of the universe.
