X-Men The Official MCU X-Men News and Discussion Thread

Well I wouldn't assume anything with MyTimeToShine... 90% of her "rumors" about D&W were totally false

But I just really hope he's Old Man Logan if he sticks around
I want a proper MCU Wolverine, not X-23 and Jackman, as much as I love the guy
If Hugh wants to do it, I think he may be our new Iron Man replacement for the next several years. I don't think we are getting a Wolverine that's not Hugh after how well D&W performed. Not if Hugh has any interest in doing the role beyond Secret Wars.

Well I hope it's false
They realize Wolverine is supposed to age slow right?
Hugh's in amazing shape, but his face is showing his age... Paul Rudd he is not lol

I've been saying it since they announced Hugh was coming back that he was going to stay in the MCU. He and Ryan are going to be around for a long, long time.

They don't care if his face shows a bit of age. So long as Wolverine is bringing in the $$$$

Beau wasn't fired for being progressive though.
My point is that ther person who made it progressive is no longer working there.

And how many queer creators the MCU has? As far as I know it's none. There's only one in animation.

I miss the days we gave Feige a little bit of the benefit of the doubt.
But didn't we give him the benefit of the doubt?

It was prepandemic when he promised more queer representation! What progress has been made? Because it feels we're actually moving backwards.

I don't think there's one queer person who's actually satisfied with the queer representation in the MCU.

How many years and phases do you want to give as benifit of the doubt to Feige?
They'll probably focus more on racial diversity than sexual, but the MCU movies have been very sex-free regardless, hetero or otherwise. Cap got what, a couple awkward kisses, and the last time RDJ had (off-screen) sex was back in the Paramount days.
Sexual?

Queer people and their relationship are not restricted to sex. Love is love. And we have a massive amount of straght romance in every single Marvel project.

To be frank, its not even the rep in the casting that is the issue. The issue is the core message of the X-men metaphor. A CCP approved X-men film is not an X-film worthy of the name. The same goes with the current "non political" version that Iger and Feige will push. Twister avoiding 2 words despite it is used by those people all the time, and is not inherently political. The fact that the metaphor of the X-men is more relevant than ever will be ignored for money.

There is a reason Jordan Peele didn't accept.

I predict we're having a first X-Men movie "without" Wolverine until the post credit scene. Most likely Hughverine if Jackman is staying. Then, from the second movie on, he'll be on the team to be the Iron Man of the franchise.

They'll set up an X-Men team first to build hype for Jackman to join them. That's going to $ell a lot.

Oh and I'm sure at some point he'll be the only survivor of a massacre too. :o

That all sounds right up MCU’s alley.

The Iron Man/Captain America dynamic in Avengers is what we should have gotten from the X-Men films regarding Cyclops and Wolverine.

If RDJ is any indication, Jackman can make a ridiculous amount of money in the MCU.

He's staying.

He's the anchor. The X-Man. :o

I am actually worried about my sodium intake right now with all the salt in this thread.

It’s definitely not all doom & gloom; and I could get behind Jackman sticking around as Wolverine for a bit longer. No complaints about him in the role from me. And since everything may be amalgamated post-Secret Wars, it’s very possible that the Hugh Jackman we see in the MCU in 2028 and beyond (if that indeed happens) could be yet another variant with new history and a new set of X-Men.

And I loved X-Men: Evolution, so I have no problem with an older Wolverine hanging around the mansion.

Wolverine will end up in the X-Men movie also. The lesson won't be keep Wolverine with Deadpool and only Deadpool. The lesson is going to be put Wolverine in as many movies as possible. Just like they did Iron Man

I'm not sure if Hugh would be particularly interested in doing regular X-men movies anymore, though (at least not as a major role in all of them). He's already done a ton of that and that's what he retired from.

What brought him back is the fact that he wants to do crossovers with other heroes. So outside of Deadpool I think he'd be most excited to be in Avengers movies and a Wolverine vs Hulk movie. Oh, and I bet he'd be totally down for a crossover with Tobey's Spider-man. That's another easy billion dollar movie right there.

Adamantium poisoning makes him start aging.

Beau wasn't fired for being progressive though. We still don't know the exact reasons but by all accounts he was... uncomfortable.. to work with

Will MCU X-Men be as LGBT friendly as '97? Definitely not. But I think y'all are really counting them out already when we have no idea what their plans are. I miss the days we gave Feige a little bit of the benefit of the doubt.

Yeah I feel like it’s going to be a trying couple of years if we’re nothing but negative here until the film comes out. I get we’re trying to manage expectations but we shouldn’t be Debbie downers.

Anyway worse case scenario we’ll still have the comics. The fandom has weathered bad x-films before

If Hugh Jackman continues as Wolverine and makes even more X-Men movies (now with another studio) and with a whole new cast younger than him, he will be the biggest hypocrite in the industry. Real talk.

I'll give you that.. I don't know the sexuality of every writer and director in the MCU but it's certainly lacking. I'd be willing to bet Taika is pan, but that's all I can think of lol

I meant sexuality, not sex
And I certainly wouldn't say there's a "massive amount" of straight romance
But It is disappointing they keep cutting Valkyries romances, and Ao in Black Panther, a lot of it ends up on the cutting room floor... and Korg doesn't really count as representation when that's just how his species functions
Adamantium poisoning makes him start aging.
Well I definitely don't want a nerfed Wolverine

I predict he will have only very small roles in the X-men films - Dafne Keen will be our new Wolverine and Logan will look in on her/mentor her briefly, before he goes off to do his wandering hero thing, aka, co-starring in a bunch of other random heroes' movies like RDJ did and becoming one of the main leads in the Avengers films.

Feige is already saying they're not casting a new Wolverine anytime soon. This intentional messaging, and D&W's BO mixed with recent trends like RDJ playing Doom tell me Disney and Marvel will open up the checkbook to get Hugh to stick around for a while. They want to emphasize popular franchises, and Wolverine helped make D&W their biggest non Sony hit since Endgame. I definitely think they see this as a chance to fill that anchor being hole in the center of the MCU.

They should make this a case for bringing back James and Famke for at least one more go without Wolverine. I think seeing an older Scott and Jean before the reboot would be really fun

Based on RDJ, it's the creative decisions that concerns me the most rather than size role.

They did turn their biggest hero into Iron Boy Jr (and no Sony deal justify this creative path), and are now tying their biggest villain to RDJ/Tony as well.

A world built around Wolverine sounds very likely to me after all these recent events and the context.

Also, I want to see this in an mcu X-men film

Basically the 90s costume with few eXceptions.

I don't like the 90 costume for Havok, Polaris and Shadowcat, for eXample. With Emma, I'd obviously pick one of her 2000s costumes in which she was finally a X-Woman.
