X-Men The Official MCU X-Men News and Discussion Thread

I liked it. Every story has its haters. Like even krakoa (hi Tom)
and the quality of the comics doesnt really matter in terms of movie adaptations, since the film writer can take the best ideas on page and turn them into an amazing movie easily.

the Marvel comics have more than 60 years of history, right? there're plenty of awesome ideas, concepts that can be adapted and transformed into impressive films, with the right director.

More than anything, bringing back all these legacy Fox X-Men cast members has all but killed my interest. I loathe the Multiverse.
Sadly I agree, to some extent
It was fun seeing Tobey, Andrew, and Hugh, and of course they were gonna pull Reynolds over
but they should've continued building their universe with confidence

My hope is that the Fox-Men get offed in the cold open, and by the end of Secret Wars we never hear a peep about the multiverse again
I'm doubtful though

I mean the movie is called 'Doomsday'.

Don't see it ending well for a lot of them.

It would be symbolic. The old world has to fall for the new one to rise.

Or whatever it is Apocalypse said. :sneeze:

Jackman will likely stick around.

did Hugh Jackman killed your interest in Deadpool 3 too?

I genuinely think D&W is a terrible, terrible movie.

And now, after its colossal success we'll be stuck with them, with the risk of Tatum as well. :clown::clown::clown:

X-Men is the only thing keeping my interest in Doomsday. Taking Marvel's greatest villain and turning him into a vanity role for RDJ is gross. There's nothing else going on in the current MCU that excites me.

I certainly didn't think it was terrible
But that and No Way Home being the two biggest post-Endgame movies (followed by Dr Strange MOM) certainly doesn't seem to be teaching Disney and Marvel the right lessons

Yeah terrible is a strong word, IMO.

D&W was a brainless movie and didn’t make a lick of sense at times, but dammit it was fun. Legit did not expect to see Wesley’s Blade or Tatum’s Gambit.

Pretty much.
interesting. Wasnt expecting that response regarding Wolverine.

I guess it all depends on the fans prefferences, after all. Those who love the original cast, would love this news, those who dont, wont be excited. It is what it is.
The reboot is around the corner at the end of the day. The multiverse saga ends with Secret Wars.
We can enjoy both, imo. At least I'd do it like a kid on Christmas day (likely even better) :tearsofjoy::hearts:

I don't really get these complaints against Foxverse/pre-MCU actors and the Multiverse in the MCU. We know there's an end to the Multiverse Saga, which is just 2 years from now. Most of the pre-MCU/Foxverse actors are above 50, so I can't see them being prioritized after Secret Wars. Even if Hugh/Ryan are still around post-Secret Wars headlining D&W2, it doesn't mean there won't be room for new actors playing X-Men roles.

Deadpool & Wolverine is a fun movie. No Way Home is great. Multiverse of Madness is mid, and there are worse films than those three films under the Multiverse Saga - Eternals, Quantumania, Brave New World, Love and Thunder, The Marvels - those movies, didn't even focus on the multiverse. So the Multiverse isn't really the problem here.

They were all really great in their roles, so why are we angry that we have great actors coming back to play these characters again?

Because I see no reason for it. The MCU from its birth was building out its own universe and its own takes on characters without relying on past franchises or interpretations. I wanted to see the new MCU versions of these characters. Why the over-reliance on legacy characters and actors? I don't get it.

Plus most of them were playing these characters over 25 years ago and they peaked in 2003.

Days Of Future Past came out a decade after X2 and was the highest grossing X-Men movie. So this is factually wrong.

Well we are just going to agree to disagree. DOFP is one of the best X-Men films to date.

And yes, there's a reason why they brought back Fox-Men, Andrew, Tobey, Jennifer Garner, Wesley and even Chris Evans as Human Torch into the MCU, its called nostalgia which brings a lot of money to the table. Its simply not something you can create with movies like Eternals, Thunderbolts* and The Marvels. If you don't get the excitement and joy when those actors returned after such a long time, then too bad. Kevin Feige was involved in a lot of earlier Fox Marvel films, so it probably means something to him to have these actors after all this time, even when he got his own success in the entertainment industry.

And its obvious, they are using these actors as variants, as a fun way to play around with the concept of the multiverse.
