X-Men The Official MCU X-Men News and Discussion Thread

“Yeah, to be honest with you, I don’t really know the storyline, so I’m not sure. It’s not my world, it’s never been my world, really, that whole comic book world. I should know by now, I’ve been in it long enough. But I’m really excited to see when it comes out. Just like everyone else, I’ll find out what those storylines are and how it all ended up,” Janssen said.
Please come back Famke or at least be lying

Maybe that’s what’s putting her off? I must admit I wouldn’t want to walk around in a skintight swim suit especially at my age. Although I bet she could rock it

Would love to see Famke return, but I’m trying not to get my hopes up for any of the Fox actors not yet announced.

Something came to my head when I watched Anora for the first time yesterday since I got Anora on Blu-Ray as a birthday present but did not start watching it until today, but would Mikey Madison make a good Psylocke?

Crazy how I had so much hope and now I’m filled with apprehension.

in my case, its quite the opposite. Finally most X-Men will be treated like main characters and not like background. Cyclops will be done justice likely for the first time in a movie ever. Storm will be a stand out, no doubt, and Rogue and Gambit will likely be big fan favorites. Kitty and Iceman will shine like never before too.

I like Jake Schreier work to date, so Im not worried with him.
my main worry is the cast, to be honest, Im a bit scared I may not love some key choices, but.... lets wait and see. Hopefully they nail every single member (its hard, but... we can only wait and see)

Eh.

Considering Disney's recent trajectory and doing everything they can to appease the MAGA masses, I feel like we'll get an X-Men reboot that abides the Mutant Registration Act.

And we all know that's no bueno.

I have one interesting question for you: Do you care most about certain topics from the comics, or do you care about the actual X-Men before anything else?

I care about the actual X-Men because their very basis since the 60s was that they are sworn to protect a world that fears and hates them. If you can't get that down, then they're doomed.

Speaking of the 60s, I suspect that Marvel wants to use Earth-828 to launch a new MCU based on the classic Marvel comics from the 60s. Because Kevin Feige talked about recasting Tony Stark, said that one of the issues with the MCU today is that it has become homework, and said they want a reset.

That is probably the reason why they had The Fantastic Four: First Step take please in alternate universe - that was meant to be the new jumping-on point.

A X-Men movie set in the 60s and tied to the Civil Rights movement would be interesting and culturally relevant given the current political climate. However, you’re right about Disney caving into MAGA. Though they seem t9 cave into public pressure more as shown with the Jimmy Kimmel incident.

The X-men are the metaphor. That is the core of the X-men. And at a time when the mutant metaphor is more important than ever, you cannot shy away from it. Yes, the whole of X history in the comics is not totally focused on that. But, when you hear politicians talk with lines straight out anti mutant characters, it is a failure not to keep the metaphor front and center.

Really going to commission an X-men version of the "cool robots" Gundam meme.

No. It would be the cowards way out. And no, the Civil Rights movement is not necessarily culturally relevant, given how many white people believe that was the full fight. See one John Roberts.

I don’t mean to be rude but fantastic four had, like, an 80% drop after its opening weekend. Marvel aren’t going to try that again.

And as sithborg said, the xmen have never been more relevant or needed. It doesn’t need to be a period piece

Also, I feel like all those people who scream “go woke go broke”, like, their perfect film would be the new Tron movie which is definitely not doing well but the biggest movie of the year, Superman, was still pretty human and the most anticipated is Wicked: for good so the whole “we can’t offend the current administration” thing just doesn’t work

The biggest American movie of the year is either Minecraft or Lilo & Stitch. Superman is not even close to those films at the box office.
