Playstation The Official Playstation 5 Thread

I guess I can't still play AC1 unless they remaster it for the ps4/5.

There's probably folks who would undoubtedly like to sell their PS4 in order to fund their PS5 purchase and will be less likely to do so without complete PS5 compatibility with PS4 games on day 1.

I just want to know the launch date/price/the entire line up right now... I'm still unsure if I'm getting a new console in more or less 16 weeks (probably not getting) but these infos should be out by now.

I'm also looking forward to Ubisoft's September stream this month.

Sounds weird to think there's going to be new consoles released in less than 16 weeks. Less than 12 weeks if its November. I said before that I want a delay, but not anymore, as the launch games and possibly the ps5 would be cheaper in May. Thats really my target date for getting it, as I just got a new Windows pc this August. And I don't really feel spending a big amount of money again for 1 product later this year.

And Sony should just give us a list of ps4 games playable for the ps5 and the ps4 eXclusives (including Horizon, Detroit, Stranding)/Ubisoft/Capcom better be compatible. Well basically all the big Aaa games since 2013.

Sounds like they’re adopting a Disney style strategy. Smash and grab
I wish Detroit Become Human, Death Stranding and Horizon Zero Dawn weren't ported to PC. Well I own both ps4 and Windows PC, but Windows aren't porting their games like Gears of War to PlayStation and I will not use my Pc for gaming. So imo, PlayStation should really secure exclusivity and make sure they don't get ported to PC, especially its going to make a difference in console sales in the long run.

I feel if PlayStation is being generous letting their games (especially something like Horizon, developed by a Sony studio) come to Pc, then it should be vice versa. Microsoft should port their games to Playstation as well, especially for those who don't use pc for gaming.

There’s certainly a few PC games I wouldn’t mind having a go of

I would like to play Gears of War 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and Quantum Break. Sunset Overdrive too, but iinw, it is eXclusive to Xbox. Microsoft should port these 8 games to PlayStation, I'd buy them right away.

Death Stranding was both announced for PC and PS4 so essentially it's not a PS exclusive.

I don't like exclusivity, but I understand why it exists. I've always been in the mindset of "let the consumers buy the games for their preferred box".

I'm still waiting for the day that Nintendo will announce putting their first parties on PC and on the blue/green boxes but that day may never come...

I Would love a Pokemon game with graphics similar to Horizon/God of War. But thats the only Nintendo ip that interests me. I don't think I'm missing anything by not playing Animal Crossing, Mario and Zelda.

I'm unsure of which place i'll be pre ordering this at. I'm considering Gamestop only because I know this will be the last generation they'll be around for.

I don't know where you're from, but here Gamestop has ridiculous prices for used games. A year ago Rise of the Tomb Raider was 50 euros or 59.10 dollars used, where as a privately owned videogame shop im the same mall had it for 25 euros/29.60 dollars new copy

Point is I don't give them money. I can get the console at any electronics store and get a better deal anyway

Has it been confirmed the PS5 will play PS4 games yet ? Thanks in advance.

Double yay! I only have like less than 50 ps4 discs, so all of those better part of those 4,000+!

Ps5 AD needs to be $300 now, but there is no way Sony is going to do that. $400 min.

I want to eXpect the uneXpected!

But XboX Series S isn't just a Series X without a disc drive. Series S doesn't have 4k from what I read. Ps5 without a disc drive still has the same power as the one with a disc drive.

Without disc drive - 299
With disc drive- 399

:) That would be competition over yet again for Sony.

Yes. I guess one could even say, Series S is to Series X what Xbone SAD is to Xbone X. But despite all of its drawbacks, the flashing lights the consumers will see is that $300 before anything else. For that reason, I would love it if Sony played it competitively and went $300 with the Ps5 AD and $400 with the regular Ps5 like you said.

Nobody even saw the Ps5 AD coming, so maybe they really will surprise us again and do that...at this point though I find that really hard to believe

whoever gets that $400 price point for the mainline console wins. Most likely, the PS5 will be $499 just like the Series X. but, if either wants to be really competitive, then they will aim for that $399 price.

I could definitely see mS pricing Series X at $400. They have deep enough pockets to take the loss.

well, given their current position, that would be a last-minute bold play that they would need. Would definitely up my interest in the Series X.

I think I'm gonna end up waiting outside my local gamestop or best buy early in the morning the day of pre orders. probably head there around 6.
