The Official Pull List Discussion thread

That was good comics, but sadly it's not really available in trade.

That sucks. I've been wanting to read the older stuff and wasn't sure where to start but I'll probably just pick up the first Ellis trade and start there.

Did Ellis take over post-Civil War or before?

That's what I felt, though he did have the coolest part in Civil War. Check out the first three issues, his interactions with ares alone will win you over.

A lot of people I know who have never been Herc fans have been saying the same thing and talking about how great it is. I just can't see myself picking up a Herc book after decades of being annoyed by him.

It was post-Civil war.

That's what I said, but I stand severely corrected and happily so.

Ellis started post civil war.

Cool. I wasn't sure.

How was the title pre-Civil War then? I'm only asking because I'd like to read as far back as I can. Just wondering if it's worth the effort.

Pretty good, it was different, more about redemption then anything else. The current rendition is completely different. The arc right before civil war was pretty cool especially if you like Zemo as a character (which I do, the zemo mini was also pretty good).

Zemo was actually one of my fav old school villains back in the day.

That's why i'm gonna stick with T-bolts a bit. After all this Skrull stuff is over, he really needs to show up again in that book, and whoever is taking over should explore that. He has three issues to convice me to stay long enough to find out.

Alright current Pull list

Any suggestions?I want to get into X-factor but should I get the trades first?

Well, PAD's leaving, so I'd go with the trades. Decide if you like the direction enough to give the next writer a chance.

Really?Damn I heard really good things too.So who is taking over for him?Oh forget to mention I get Punisher:Max.Any other suggestions?

Some dude named Stroman. Not familiar with his work, but he gets three issues to make me wanna keep reading.

Ok what about Thor,Iron Man: Director of Shield and Nova? How Good are they?

Very good. Some of the best Marvel is putting out right now. Get all three if you can.

Do I have to read something before I can jump into them?Should I get the trades first?

While you don't have to have read Thor: Disassembled to get into the new series, I think you would enjoy it. It was really one of the best Thor stories ever in my opinion.

Ok I'm also going to get the trades for Y:the last man.Btw are Plantery and 100 bullets any good?I was gonna get the trades.I read Scalped too any DC,Veritgo or wildstorm you guys can recommend?

Larry Stroman is the new artist, not a writer; David is still writing it.

Oh, well, nevermind then. Grab X-Factor and enjoy.

Yeah, Plantery was great. Couldn't really get into 100 bullets myself, but a lot of people seem to dig it. Grab the first trade and see how you like it. Other Vertigo or Wildstorm books to grab? Alan Moore's Swamp Thing, Preacher, Lucifer, Sandman, and Fables. Gotta get Fables. From Wildstorm i'd suggest Astro City, some Authroity (Warren Ellis and Millar runs) Wildcats (Alan Moore and Casey's 3.0) and Ex Machina.

Thor is my favorite read right now. I just read 1-6 this past weekend and they were phenomenal. Still waiting for 7 & 8 in the mail.

All great. If you can afford all three, I'd highly recommend all of them.
From Wildstorm i'd suggest [...] Wildcats (Alan Moore and Casey's 3.0) [...]
I'd throw Casey's Wildcats vol. 2 in there, too. Vol. 2 and v3.0 form a nice progression for a lot of characters. You can see Hadrian's ideas about corporate superheroing develop in vol. 2, plus there's just some really good stories there.
