The Official Rate and Review Your Wii Game Thread

I am making this thread as a way we can all review a purchase we made for the Wii. Now this can be a Wii, Gamecube, or even a VC title for the system.

It's a way to help each other out if we are unsure about a game.

I'll start with a game I bought last night.

Rayman: Raving Rabbids

It's an interesting premise of a game. What looks like it should be a platformer is not. It is a game made up of mini games wrapped around a zany and silly story.

Rayman is kidnapped by a race of demented Bunny would be invaders. They force him through many challenges for the amusement. When you have finished five of the challenges you win a plunger. These Rayman are using as a means to try and climb out of a very tall window in his cell so he can escape.

While I was dissapointed when I learned it wasn't a platformer, it still does not diminish from having fun with this title. The mini games are varied and use the Wii-Mote and Nunchuck in interesting and unique ways. While some challenges are just plain annoying and take a while to beat, many of them are silly and just put a smile on your face while you play them.

Be prepared though, some of the games will tire your arms out. Example being the carrot juice pumping mini games.

As you beat the challenges you unlock musical tracks and costumes. They are a useless yet neat diversion to the game.

All in all, don't let the fact it's not a platformer prevent you from giving it a shot. It is an extremely fun game, even with some of it's weaknesses.

4 out of 5 - not at all sorry I bought this game for my expanding Wii collection.

You should at least give it a rental Spidey, it's better than you would think. Even if it's not a platformer.

I've been dying to review Need For speed Carbon, Partly because it took so long for any real reviews. I picked it up at launch and was sort of dissapointed with the controls for the first hour. But after about four hours of practice I love it. I use the excite truck controls when using the in car view. I use the nunchuck tilt controls in any other view. To anybody buying this or playing this game you have to put time in to appriciate it. I give need for speed an 8.5/ This also goes for madden. I believe die hard madden fans may not like it because they're so use to the traditional way of playing. But for someone with a open mind it's much more involving playing on the wii. I haven't played madden this much since the snes days. I give Madden a 8.7.

My next games are going to be Call of duty to wash red steel out of my mouth, and Dragon ball. Anybody wanna review these for me?

I first saw it and thought "WTF is this gay-ass ****?" Then I watched the video review on IGN and it looked pretty cool. I think I might pick it up to add some more games to my inventory.

I got Elebits, Trauma Center, and Rayman for Christmas. Elebits is pretty fun although the camera controlling is a bit tedious at points. And it can be really annoying when a bunch of crap is all over the place.

Trauma Center is my fave so far. The story is really intersting, unfortunate that the cut scenes couldn't at least be animated and VO'd. The surgery is really fun even though you sometimes forget what to do.

Rayman I played for 5 min, then stopped because I couldn't do the cow toss. I'll pick it up later tonight or tomorrow.

TMNT

Well I have spent the last couple of days playing through the TMNT game for the Wii.....so I'll put my thoughts down about it for some of you who have been wondering.

For all intents and purposes they turned TMNT into a platformer where you run, jump, climb, wall run through the levels and at certain points you get stopped at a certain spot and fight a horde of enemies...then move on. This is how EVERY world in the game is like. It gets a little boring since there isn't much variety throughout the game...until you do some of the challenge missions.

Next you can't die. If you fall in a hole, you just start at the last checkpoint. If you get beat up and your health dissapears, you just have to shake the remote to revive yourself.

Next is the combat, which should be gold with the remote. Unfortunately not so much. Instead of getting to control what the turtle does with his weapon, all you have to do is look at an enemy, and then shake the remote back and forth to make the turtle attack....which does start to hurt the wrist during a longer than average play time.

All in all, the graphics are not bad...quite good. But the game seems to be geared more for younger players, most of the levels look the same, you can't die and the remote functionability is uninspired. One plus though is even with all of this, it is pretty fun...and can be a silly diversion until the monster Super Paper Mario hits next month.

Most of you will probably want to rent it first...as you can finish the game in the matter of a few hours, and maybe another hour to get through the challenge missions. Some of the unlockables are interesting though and give us some insight into the game and movie.

I didn't hate the game at all, it was fun while it lasted...I just wish there was more imagination and depth to the game.

Ya, I hear TMNT is a fun game.

But i also hear that after you beat it, its not as fun as much as when you get it!

So you might consider renting it first!
