What struggling teenager has the money for a fancy custom suit like the ones Hollywood has given us? Pretty sad that Nicholas Hammond had the most accurate/believable costume to date in the 1970's.

I don't think they're taking this film back to the full origin, but maybe this scene takes place after the death of Uncle Ben. Those could easily be slash marks from a knife.

The scratches seem to be a little to be to be from a knife though. The scratches are also sort of close togeather.

Guys perhaps they were in a burning building (Lizard / Spider-Man)?

I thought something similar could be possible, but the burns are specifically around those claw marks on the chest and nowhere else.

Unless we're to guess that he just bumped into some hot shrapnel that left wounds that happened to look a lot like a large bird or reptile was lashing it's talons at him, with the same number of slashes both times he got hit.

Or maybe Lizard is radioactive like Godzilla and can charge his claws up red hot. -- Or Proto-Gobby.

I think this makes a lot of sense if we do in fact have spidey with mechs. So there will be a belt, which makes sense as the red strip cutting off at the side of his waist on the new costume is very apparent. One of the posters in another thread did a manip of the utility belt, coloured red of course. I presume it'll be similar to that.

It definately looks better with the belt, just makes the whole suit look complete as oppossed to almost tacky...

They did say it was high-tech so the addition of a utility belt is plausible.
