The official "The Losers" movie thread.

This movie is assembling a damn fine cast

So this is set in the present day? I need to pick up this book. As much as I'm sick of World War II, I wouldn't mind seeing The Losers in their original WWII days.

Blackfilm.com reports that Spanish actor Oscar Jaenada (The Limits of Control, Che: Part Two) has landed the role of Cougar in Warner Bros. Pictures' adaptation of the DC-Vertigo comic book The Losers.

He's joining a cast that includes Jeffrey Dean Morgan as the leader Clay, Idris Elba is his second-in-command Roque, Chris Evans as Jensen, Columbus Short as Pooch, Jason Patric as Max and Zoe Saldana as Aisha.

Sylvain White is directing the movie about a band of black ops commandos who are set up to be killed by their own government. They barely survive and set out to get even.

So it looks like the film has gotten a release date set for 2010? Question though has it begin production yet or is it still a few months away?

THE LOSERS Set to Sack Puerto Rico

In light of the recent news that 'The Losers' is set for an April 2010, Comics2Film at Mania checked in the sources close to the production to see what the status of the film is.
We've learned that Sylvain White's adaptation of the DC Comics/Vertigo series is set to roll cameras in Puerto Rico on July 22nd for about eleven weeks of filming.
The cast of Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Idris Elba, Chris Evans, Jason Patric, Zoe Saldana, Columbus Short and Oscar Jaenada are confirmed.

The oft-heard manta of "tax incentives" makes the island Commonwealth and U.S. territory an increastingly attractive location for Hollywood, not to mention easy access to seasoned professionals from Miami and New York.
'The Losers' was originally a classic DC Comics war title that was reinvented in 2004 by writer Andy Diggle and artist Jock. The updated version featured a squad of black ops professionals left for dead by the agency they work for. However, they survive and embark on a personal mission to get revenge on their handlers and topple the corrupt agency that sold them out.

I don't see a number of people interested in this project to justify a forum.
Unfortunately.

YEa the product sounds cool but i dont know squat on it. Nice to hear they have cast totally set and production begins next week. Since they are spies/what not right? and the short filming time it should be a nice an simple shoot to do.

Holt McCallany has joined the cast. From The Hollywood Reporter:

Veteran actor Holt McCallany has signed on to Silver Pictures' "The Losers," which Warner Bros. is distributing.

Sylvain White is directing the action pic, which is adapted from the well-known DC Comics/Vertigo property. The contemporary-set tale revolves around a group of Black Ops forces who, after being betrayed by their handler, regroup to seek revenge and conduct operations against the CIA.

McCallany ("Fight Club") will play Wade, a special-forces officer who has left the group. Zoe Saldana and Jason Patric already have been cast.

McCallany, repped by APA and Mosaic Media, also appears in the FX pilot "Lights Out, " the story of an aging boxer struggling to support his family, which is in the running for a series pickup.

I can't believe he played Sam Whitemoon in Creepshow 2 (it was on the OnDemand menu for Comcast, and I just felt like watching it last week)!!! Him and that hair! LOL!

Splash Page has some information up: the film starts shooting early next month (the original start date was pushed back) and the comic's artist, Jock, will be illustrating a poster that'll be given away at Comic-Con. The poster will be an adaptation of the cover to issue #12 modified to put the cast's faces into it. This is the original cover image in question:

One of the characters, Roque, is missing from the cover, but will be included in the poster.

The story reminds me of a Korean movie called Silmido which was based on actual events. Pretty much about a group of prisoners who are forced to undergo special training by the government to assasinate the leader of North Korea and on the night of the operation, the plug is pulled and the South Korean government has them all killed last minute.

Nice to hear they got another actor on board. I dont know the person's work but once this film is out and if the trailer peaks my interest i will be curious to check it out.
