The Official UFO, Conspiracy Theories and Supernatural Thread

This will all end well, I'm sure. :funny:

Seriously though, I'm astounded at level of naivety and stupidity here. Here's hoping those people don't get themselves killed.

Why do people think real life is like Fortnite?

I wonder how many people watched this movie had realized that they would eventually get to play a game that basically has the same premise, except you can dance on the corpses of your enemies.

Why do people think real life is like Fortnite?

I don't wanna be that guy but... I don't think we should be so dismissive of the affects of, yeah, sorry... Online games and social media in shaping people's lives. Look at that girl murdered in the story you posted in the Sexual Harassment thread. Look at the way foreign govenment entities ARE using social media. The immersive aspect of our interaction with media on computers is something big corporations spend billions a year on, either researching or refining. Now, for a generations worth of the population (And this is across age groups, cuz it's something ranging from teens to peeps well into their forties...) there's a large swath that are indeed formed via the online culture of gaming and social media. Do these things CAUSE these people to do things? I don't know if it's as satisfyingly simple as that. But... I do wish we wouldn't just instantly think that even talking about the aggregate affect online gaming culture and social media is having is automatically just Tipper Gore from the 80's styled old fogey pearl clutching. I would state that thinking these things are the absolute root cause of ills is on the same level of understanding of human nature as saying they have ZERO affect on our minds.

Some people are just nuts, in other words.

I'd love it if they succeeded only to find ... nothing. Just an old base full of military veterans playing Poker and reconciling over old times.

If they find aliens and release them, we're gonna need Bill Pullman to save us. :o

Joking aside, what exactly do these people hope to accomplish here?

Lets say some, or even all of them manage to get to the base, then what? Anything of alien origin is going to be buried deep within the facility, likely underground, and between countless security checkpoints and blast doors.

I hardly doubt the Area 51 guards are going to suddenly grant unrestricted access, so these people are going to arrive, get into the base, and then, practically, hit a brick wall, cause they're never going to get to the good stuff.

It's almost like a half baked plan without any logical thought behind it.

As time has passed on and information has essentially become overload with the internet and fast progress of modernized society over the last 100 years the subject of aliens has become as intangible as anything else.

Conxtextualizations abound. There's so many ways to put this it's next to impossible but I see discussions on this usually going:
*Actual scientific talk where very little information

*the common conspiracy theory and depictions from early/mid 20th century in the USA (MIB, Bluebook, the cartoonish looking greys)

*this whole ancient astronaut cross fertilization into myth/folklore religion trying to re-define it all as ancient astronaut theory

*Non-physical spiritual subject matter usually looked at through the lens of the religion that one follows in which aliens are never mentioned whatsoever. Still, some have tried making connections (trying to liken "Greys" as spirits looking at from the perspective of one's religion, psychology, or philosophical school of thought as opposed to looking at this subject matter from the outside as ancient alien theorists often do trying to re-define it in a physical sense).

So I saw those 182 Blink videos.

They are UFO's indeed. As in, they are in the air and we don't know what they are.
Aliens?
Nah.

Well, that's one interesting thing to find out given tomorrow's the "Raid" day.

Oh trust me... The UFO's are still coming.
Y'know... Time/Space and all.. Be patient. They'll be here shortly.

With this being the conspiracy theory thread, I think this video belongs here.
