"...THINK Oded Fuhr is perfect for Tony Stark" Thread

I just don't get it. He is EXACTLY as perfect for TS as Kal Penn would be for Peter Parker. In other words, NOT AT ALL! Fehr has a distinctly middle eastern look. Stark is not middle eastern. Jason Scott Lee is a good actor and has an awesome physique but would he be the perfect Captain America? No, because he has a ditinctly Asian/Polynesian look which Cap obviously does not

So someone please explain the logic to me of Oded being a good choice for Stark!

Spider - man, its mostly horny housewives.

That and people think because he has a black and white headshot where has short-hair and a goatee that he can play Spider-man.

Well, as has been said here, the biggest reason why people want Oded Fehr for the role is because Wizard magazine did a fantasy casting call for Iron Man last year and they choose Oded Fehr for the role, saying he had the look and would be easy to sign to a three pic deal and it would be the break out role for him.
That's the first and only time I've seen his name connected with the role, I can't explain why its gotten to the leave its at now, but that article seems to the catalist for it.

Besides the Wizard casting call, there are people who actually think he can be compared to play Stark. IMDB had him listed as "attached" to the role last month, but when Favreau was asked about it, his response was that Fehr wasn't anywhere near the film whatsoever.

I don't think he has a distictly Middle Eastern look. When you know his name is Oded and you see him in the Mummy or something you know it, but he could definitely pass for being Italian, which Tony Stark is. And he's not a bad actor at all, he just hasn't been in any big parts yet. As much as it would be nice to have Laurence Olivier in every part, a just "good" actor will often serve the purpose.

Wizard and IMDB because they don't have any real or legitimate sources just print any **** they can find on the internet.

One month ago Wizard Magazine was still reporting that Cassavettes was still the director of Iron Man.

If it wasn't for the name or the fact people know he is, he wouldn't be automatically recognized as middle eastern. People like Clooney, Zane and Stamos could also be said to be middle eastern if they had middle eastern names. But since people know Oded is, the "prejudicetron" goes off instantly. One thing is for sure, one thing Stark doesn't seem to be (based on the way he's been drawn in the comics for all those years) is "Arian", no matter how much the prejudice bunch want he to be.

Oh, and Oded does look like Stark!

Tony Stark, real name Anthony, is at the least partially Italian. That was the point, to have him stand as a contrast to Cap, Thor, and the like. He's a smaller, swarthier, more immigrant stock sort of guy. He's all-American, in the sense that America is made of immigrants, not just Wasps and Aryans.

He's really one of the few heroes like that. People are either standard all-American white guys, or a distict minority. Tony's a mix.

The problem with IMDB, is that people can send in whatever they please whenever they want. Without any credibility as to what's false and what's true, meaning casting, characters, and even the plot.

Wizard is always two steps behind. Or out of nowhere, they'll report something completely different then what we're given from more trusted sites, with their own sources.

Aside from the "Fehr as Iron Man" scenario, IMDB also listed down Peter Cavoudias playing Al Carpeto. Which was also false, considering Favreau had yet to mention anything about using the character.

the oded fehr as tony stark thing amuses me.

nonetheless, it is really silly.

for some reason though, i think Oded would make a good Lobo.

Ok, what makes Wahlberg "perfect" for the role? He's a mediocre actor at best and he looks NOTHING like Stark! People are entitled to their own opinion but this is getting rediculous!

Just because he was in a bad role in a terrible movie doesn't make him a bad actor. He's a classically trained actor. And just because you haven't seen him in anything else doesn't make him not qualified.

And if we were just judging by past roles, I think freaking being MARKY MARK is worse than Antoine Laconte.

Whoa, calm the hell down. As I said, he's a good stage actor. Most of his past roles were bad, but they were bad parts in the first place. If it was well-written, and he botched it, I could understand, but it's not like anything else in Resident Evil or Deuce Bigalow were of quality. Wahlberg has done crap in the past too. But he was given a chance for better roles, and did well. Fehr hasn't.

He was decent in the Mummy as Ardeth Bey, but it wasn't that big a character.

Alright, thought you were e-yelling.

People that listen to Wizard about casting movies should be quarantined.

Thank you. It's the whole Wizard casting mentality that makes people think you HAVE to have a name actor play a superhero when there's every likelyhood that there is an unknown actor with good chops who would be perfect for the part. Hold an open casting call, get the right person for the lead role, use good marketing, name directors, and name actors in supporting roles to draw viewers.
