I think the film is just as polarizing among the GA as it is with fans.

I wouldn't call it polarizing. I think the majority certainly enjoyed it (or parts of it), but to a similar extent that they can enjoy a decent romcom: enough to appreciate it, but not enough to think about it too long after they see it. But maybe I'm way off base. I don't know.

Yeah most non-cb fans that i know enjoyed MoS for the most part, but none had any desire to see it again or really discuss it.

Same. One of my friends (who saw the film very recently) said that he was glad he watched it, but had no desire to ever see it again. He also described it as just okay.

Just for the love of god, don't let goyer do the screenplay.

"Dicksplash" ugh

And off course the water comes in at that point ;)

Somehow, I think Zack wanted to make MOS dirtier than even Goyer intended.

You can practically hear him chuckle when Hamilton looks at the pod and says: "Is that what I think it is?"

And funny enough, I'm not complaining. I think the campy moments add to the experience, though I think the overall dialog needed a lot of work to feel fresher and believable.

Yeah most non-cb fans that i know enjoyed MoS for the most part, but none had any desire to see it again or really discuss it. To them it was well-crafted "product", nothing more. Certainly didnt have any overall cultural impact, not compared to Nolan-bats or IM or TA or even the new Spidey film. None that is detectable outside certain boards. I think many are intrigued by a JL film though, especially since Affleck was cast.

The general audience didn't even know their was a new Batman until TDK. Batman begins nor the first Ironman head much of a cultural impact.

None of the characters really got character development in Avengers. People do tend to judge things based on a Marvel standard.

Because they had development in their own solo films...

All we needed to see in Avengers was them interacting with each other for the first time, and for the most part, it was done very well. Particularly Stark and Rogers.

Of course Iron Man did. It turned a c-list superhero into a icon and a down and out actor into a megastar. Without the first Iron Man being a success, the cinematic landscape in terms of superhero films would be very different right now. For one thing, there wouldn't be an Avengers film or an MCU.

Casino Royale nor the first Iron Man don't exist without the work Nolan and company did with BEGINS. It's the template. Just look at interviews over the last few years on properties being reinvented and how many times BEGINS is brought up as an example on how to do reboots.

Hell, BEGINS is the reason we have reboots in the first place.

I wonder how many people out there (who don't follow this stuff the way that we do) even know the difference between Marvel and DC. It would be funny if they went to see Justice League and walked out of it confused why Thor and Captain America weren't there.

When I saw Green Lantern movie in theater, many people sitting in the next row were commenting that Green Lantern movie will start with a Marvel Studios logo.

They assumed that since it was a comic book movie, it was a Marvel Studio's movie. :oldrazz:

It always amazes me how people try and justify DC/WB incompetence by criticizing Marvel and downplaying their success. Right now they are dominating the genre on the big screen.

Right, so what do you suggest that DC fans should do ?

Any constructive suggestions that will radically improve DC movies and make them better than Marvel movies ? :oldrazz:

I just find the DC vs. Marvel p***ing contest that a lot of fans get into to be really petty/pointless/stupid/etc. If you have to try and tear down one in order to build up the other, then your argument wasn't very good to begin with. Plus, there's no rule that says that you can't like/support BOTH!

And WB is still the most successful movie studio year in and year out. Weird how that works out, huh?

Shame they cant seem to make a success of their Superhero properties outside of Batman and on the odd occasion Superman.......funny how that works out huh? Meanwhile over at Marvel a relatively unknown hero like Iron Man can now compete with the likes of Superman and Batman.

How about not feeling the need for blind devotion and calling a dud a dud instead of attacking the other party in other to justify failure.

find a well balanced formula thats suits their own vision of an comicbook universe. the problem is that they dont work so hand in hand like in marvel studios..maybe its what they're trying right now with snyder...but it feels forced and im not sure if they really have a vision in which direction it should move... there are so many cooks involved ..the soup is gonna get salty too soon. fox, warner brothers....its like...:you wanna do this? ok then, here is the money. we lean back and observe if you are successfull or not.

Yea, it's all "wait and see" at this point.

I'm excited, but as a fan of comic book movies in general, i'm also weary that this is all in Snyder and Goyer's hands.

And **** Cyborg... where the hell is Flash! ;)

And how about admitting most superhero movies are bad or mediocre, and even the most solid ones, have plenty of flaws.

Shame for who? Aside from some pissy and jealous comic book fans....who's losing out here?

Take your time with that one.

I don't know maybe people who you know expect some what entertaining movies from the studios that hold these characters. Instead you get manure like MOS and Green Lantern. And in truth out of the TDK trilogy two of the three are good movies while the last boarders on mediocre to bad. Of course this is subjective as we all have our opinions right.

And Oscar winning screenwriters Ben Affleck and Chris Terrio. ;)

They're going to do what they feel makes things most successful, but they don't live and die by comic-properties like Marvel does...so even if they're 'inspired' by a certain model of success, they're still not as concerned with 'keeping up' with it.
see? and thats why they fail where marvel succeeds. i like both by the way..i mean i dont care if dc or marvel as long as it keeps me entertained for a while

Has Terrio ever written anything in the same hemisphere as **** like this though?

Argo was fantastic, but that kind of film is different in every single way to what a JL film and a DCCU needs to be.

Again it's wait and see. He could transfer his talents over without a hitch. Hopefully he can!

Man of Steel beats Iron Man 3 in DVD and Blu-ray sales

Perhaps most significantly, 'Man of Steel' was placed as the third highest-selling Blu-ray of the year (behind 'Despicable Me 2' and 'The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey') selling nearly twice the number of units that 'Iron Man 3' managed to shift.
