Arsenal should be happy with the way things are, bar the red card of course. Bayern have had a lot of possession, particularly down the right hand side, however I don't think they've had a good chance aside from the penalty itself. They also aren't moving the ball well & making Arsenal chase it they are somewhat playing amongst themselves.

Despite being down to 10 men if the 2nd half pans out similar to the 1st half I think Bayern are still there to be beat..

Yeah, 0-0 would be a great result from here.

Eugh...A hard task made even harder. Can we just bypass the second leg and focus on the PL and the FA cup (not that that I think we can win either of those, mind), the CL's gone for yet another year.

Yeah, I think you should just not turn up lol. Just say you forgot or something.

Thomas Muller and Toni Kroos by god Bayern have a some amazing players. great game by them Kroos especially.

Regardless of how awesome Bayern are (and they are), I don't think they whitewashed us by any means. Until the sending off we looked just as threatening as they did. We need a ****ing killer striker though, that needs to be the priority in the summer.

I was expecting us to be chasing shadows all night, and although we ended up doing so, it wasn't until we went a man down.

I love how the media are purring over Bayern, but are conveniently trying to give little mention to the fact it was actually 10 against 11 for the majority of the match. The media can't resist seeing us fail and dancing over us as a result.

Agreed, it's not a real match any more from which inferences can be drawn when it's 10 vs 11, even when the red cards are deserved.

Agreed. I'm not disputing the dismissal, it was a straight red, just highlighting how much of a difference having an extra body on the pitch can make.

For the 4th match running I fell asleep and missed most of the second half, man I need to get my sleep pattern sorted out....anyway, it seems I was the only person that thought the ref should have blown for a high foot from Robben before he was ever fouled...

I can't fully comment on Bayern in the second half but I thought Arsenal were their equals in the first and that Wilshire and The Ox were as good as anyone on their team. Kroos goal was a cracking strike but Pep using Lahm in midfield is an odd one and Bayern seem less explosive than they were under Heynckes.

I read today that Arsenal have one of the worst records Champions league wise in terms of the amount of times they've been in it to the amount they've won - think it said 16 in a row with a single final appearance, in that time United have won it 2 times with 4 final appearances, Liverpool 1 time with 2 finals, Chelsea 1 time with 2 finals

Wenger to me is always that top place finisher. He's the team that flies right under the radar, can provide upsets, and will finish well, but he'll never be clinical enough on his people when he needs to be to give them that little push to the top spot.

He'd be a great coach to play under in terms of his character I feel like, but if my mission is to win trophies, then I wouldn't want too.

Guess its more so what you want out of your career.

I think Wenger would be a fantastic international coach. He wouldn't have to worry about buying the right players or any other political bull**** within the club level. Just tactics and getting the best out of his resources. I firmly believe if you give Wenger the resources that Mourinho, Pelligrini, Ancelotti, Laurent Blanc have access to he would deliver buckets of silverware.

I think Arsenal are more than capable of going to Bayern & getting a result.

In recent seasons Bayern's one weakness seems to be when they think the job is done they become prone to the occasional collective brain fart.. especially at home.

Look at the City game this year, completely blitzed City & raced into a 2-0 lead early on, they then conceded a goal against the run of play & gradually took their foot of the gas allowing City to comeback & win 3-2. That was a result in which Bayern only had themselves to blame as opposed to City outplaying them, they thought the game was over & cost themselves.. the same could happen in the return leg for Arsenal..

Yep, though much like last season, I think we've killed our chances already.

Quite true, though I think them being on home turf will give them the incentive to up their game, especially after what happened last season. I'd also expect more keep ball under Pep's tiki-taka, and reckon we'll be sitting back and chasing shadows for much of the game.

Everton is giving Chelsea a good run for their money. I'd still vote for a Chelsea win, but Everton is making them work very hard for it.

Huge win for Chelsea, it looked like petering out into a 0-0 and with Arsenal and Liverpool both strong favourites to win today that Terry goal could be vital in the title race.

Yeah, that morale boost will carry them to the end of the season. It's definitely going to give them a sense of inevitability in coming games. It's probably better to win a game like that than to score in the first 15 minutes and have it end 1-0.

So Jose reckons they ain't got a chance at winning the title then? The man sure does love the spotlight, that's for sure. :o The more I think about his specialist of failure comment, the more I feel Wenger came out of it successfully rattling him, and the more Jose came out of it looking like a tit.

Oh City won, damn. Was 0-0 when I stopped checking with about 20 mins left. Arsenal beat Sunderland 4-1. So the title contenders all winning. Liverpool need 3 points.

Both Chelsea and City showed today why they could be champions...

In other news United are actually keeping the ball on the ground O_O...Hoping they can squeeze out a victory, but Palace are extremely composed in defense.

United have put in more crosses than Crystal Palace under Tony Pullis.:funny:

Thank God for that...RVP converts a penalty, 0-1 to United on 63min.
