Horror The Original Monster: Ed Gein | Netflix/Ryan Murphy/Charlie Hunnam

Yeeeeeeeah, this is finna win ALL the Emmys.

But man, you gotta give Dahmer another go. Literally the most chilling bit of television I have ever seen and it haunts you.

I will give Dahmer another try. Maybe I was just too busy or something at the time and couldn’t give it my full attention. Because I am a big true crime fan.

I dont know that everything i watched was fact, but i binged the first four episodes and was riveted. Gonna binge the rest tomorrow if I can. :)

Binged the second half. While not quite as good as Dahmer this was still riveting enough that I dropped everything else to finish it. :)

A lot of it is exaggerated. The stuff with Hitchcock and Perkins is borderline tasteless and what they did to Bernice Worden is utterly tasteless. I don't know where Hunnam got that voice from. There were recordings of Gein unearthed in 2023, the guy didn't sound like that.

I thought it was ok. The voice took A LOT of getting used to but it eventually became "normal" to listen to. Though I dont understand why they did such an extreme on the voice......he didnt sound anything near that irl from the audio tapes ive heard.

Suddenly jumping timelines was a bit jarring at times, I understand what they were going for but I feel like it could have been done slightly better.

Yeah, the voice was odd. Im guessing it was meant to show how timid he was.

I wanted to like it because you can tell Hunnam is trying here but its too focused on the myth of Ed Gein than the actual facts. He only had two confirmed victims and their portrayals here are completely disrespectful. Every other murder he's suspected of is pure conjecture at this point including his brother's death which he was never officially linked to. We have strayed so far from what made the first season work, I will not be tuning into the next season. Its just gotten too mean spirited with the material to take the show seriously anymore.

Waaaaaait it's on Netflix already?!

I'm so behind.

Lol, I aalmost missed it too. Glad they dropped the whole season instead of making us wait for it.

I mean....thats Murphy for you lol. Never go beyond a 1st RM produced show. It always goes downhill (except AHS that managed 3 great seasons)

How true.

He was on fire with American Crime Story too (OJ and Versace) and then that Clinton one was just a drag.

I've enjoyed most of the Murphy projects. Of late Grotesquerie rates as one of the highest for me. :)

I enjoyed this but I can definitely see why its getting worse reception than the previous seasons.

Hunnam did a good job overall in the role IMO but the voice was a distracting choice that took some time getting used too.

I had no problems with his acting at all but man were there some unintentionally funny and campy moments throughout this season.

This season definitely had Murphy's fingerprints all over it and just felt way closer in tone to something like AHS than the previous seasons of Monster.

That being said I really liked the stuff that dealt with Psycho and TCM even if it was a bit confusing at times within the timeline and the actress playing the mom was probably my favorite part of the show just because her performance was so over the top.

The last two episodes of this thing is some the most embarrassing television I've ever seen. When dealing with real people, real lives, real tragedy, you have to have some semblance of tact and class. This has none of that. Even its depiction of Tobe Hooper was offensive and way ****ing off. Yeeeeeeeeeeeeesh

The actress playing the mom????

Put some respect on Aunt Jackies name!

I can't wait to read about how Ryan Murphy completely **** all over this story too because I for damn sure aren't watching it. Ryan Murphy can **** all the way off moving forward.
