I just went to see Ladytron yesterday and of course I must urge you to buy all their stuff (except for softcorejukebox cuz that's just one of those lame mix albums) and see them live when you can, they do a really good show.

My Chemical Romance releases this concept album which doesn't really sound like them all and is heavily influenced by Queen. Getting great reviews from everyone... I've listened to it and it is decent... which is weird, coming from My Chemical Romance.

:wow: I heard about it I was like "maybe it'll be good music" but sadly, it's still just EMO, but it's a new and more Bizarre subset of Emo which could be called "Marching Band Emo" the only thing that I saw influenced by Queen was the lead singer's repressed homosexuality in the video for black parade, you just know he wanted to dress in full sequint gowns and strut around with his hand on his hips while belting out some nonsense about "joining the black parade". it's sad because it's not horrible, and in todays commercial wasteland "not horrible" has actually become noteworthy.

i refuse to listen to that band just based on how they look. i can't stand pretentious hipsters who wear all black.

That's pretty lame.

i know it is. it's not good to judge a book by it's cover, but damnit, i'm so sick of bands like the faint and ladytron. they need to smacked with a bright orange magic-marker.

Just picked up an album by a new band called Flyleaf out of BFE, Texas. They will no doubt suffer the inevitable comparisons to Evanescence and Lacuna Coil because they have a chick up front and singing, but there's a whole helluva lot more going on here with this band's music than I've ever found in Evanescence's or even Lacuna Coil's. It's not "goth rock", it's just good solid heavy music with some rather interesting songwriting and musicianship and quite frankly I find them more musically compelling than the other female fronted bands they'll unfortunately get automatically meshed with. And Lacey Mosely is much closer to Delores O'Riordan than she ever will be to Amy Lee or Cristina Scabbia. Well worth a listen if you stumble across this album.

I heard flyleaf and sadly, it's nothing we've heard a thousand times before, yes, they do have some nice ideas here and there, a token great riff every once in a while and "deep" lyrics, but Kittie, Kidney Thieves, Snake River Conspiracy, and many others have done that before

I tend not to pay attention to a band's image until after I've LISTENED to them

cuz in the end, clothes come and go, the music is what matters in the end
