Dammit there is a new Scritti Politti album out! That in itself is a ******* miracle! And I want you to ******* acknowledge it!

i really thought you were high when you first posted that, but did not want to point out this fact for fear of embarrassing you publically.

:meow:

How can I be embarrassed publically when I am stumping for a new Scritti Politti album?

oh yeah!!! i've seen that move upwards of 20 times. weren't they on subpop back in the 90's with bands like eric's trip and velocity girl?

eric's trip were possibly one of the best bands ever...imo...evelavator to hell wasn't that bad either.

i've only heard one song by eric's trip that was on one of subpop's videos compilations that i own. i liked it.

when I was in high school, I really liked The Trashcan Sinatras
they have a really nice, mellow sound, If you like them, also try, The ocean Blue kind of in the same Jangly Pop thing.:word:

Three semi-obscure albums from the 90's that I've rediscovered lately:

The Amps - "Pacer" - A Breeders side project with Kim Deal on vocals/guitar and Jim MacPhereson on drums. Raw, fuzzed-out pop songs in the vein of early Breeders, with a few songs co-written by Bob Pollard of Guided By Voices. Really solid album.

Pond - "Rock Collection" - Former Sub-Pop band on their major label debut. Skewed pop songs about siamese twins, canine astronauts and crippled children. So many catchy songs! I could listen to this album for hours on end. Higly recommended!

Fig Dish - "That's What Love Songs Often Do" - Pop-punk mixed with really catchy indie-rock. Excellent debut album from this Chicago band.

I got this of a bin for 50 cents.
awesome buy, I had gotten in a compilation from good ole 1994 or 95, along with a bunch of bands that are no more like "shakespeare's sister"and the dearly departed Josh Clayton Felt from Skool Of Fish.

oh, I think there was a track by "seaweed"in there as well, I think it was "magic mountain man"

so yeah kids, go get this post haste.

yeah, there's some really great songs on this album like "seeds'. i wonder why this band never made it big?

ps - seaweed rocks too.

nice to see this thing is still going

by the way, I've been hooked on Sufjan Stevens' Illinoise album recently, and let me tell you, it's genius, I got Michigan and The Avalanche, but haven't had the chance to check them out, Illinoise is such a complete, full, rich and varied album, it has taken me months to dig through it

buy it, download it, borrow it and make your own copy, I don't care, just get it, it's a going to be a great piece of American Modern History in the future

Just picked up an album by a new band called Flyleaf out of BFE, Texas. They will no doubt suffer the inevitable comparisons to Evanescence and Lacuna Coil because they have a chick up front and singing, but there's a whole helluva lot more going on here with this band's music than I've ever found in Evanescence's or even Lacuna Coil's. It's not "goth rock", it's just good solid heavy music with some rather interesting songwriting and musicianship and quite frankly I find them more musically compelling than the other female fronted bands they'll unfortunately get automatically meshed with. And Lacey Mosely is much closer to Delores O'Riordan than she ever will be to Amy Lee or Cristina Scabbia. Well worth a listen if you stumble across this album.

Oh... and randomly My Chemical Romance releases this concept album which doesn't really sound like them all and is heavily influenced by Queen. Getting great reviews from everyone... I've listened to it and it is decent... which is weird, coming from My Chemical Romance.

Came across a great band called Smile Empty Soul. Their new album "Vultures" is excellent. Kind of remind of a cross between Stone Sour and Foo Fighters.
