The new legacy edition is awesome, it's totally worth the money!!!
I mean, It has Jeff covering screaming Jay Hawkins,Dylan and a kick ass song called lost highway, as a fan you have to own this.

okay, who are we kidding, you're all gonna dowlnload it right? *coughs* Bittorrent*coughs*

Animal Collective : Sung Tongs
A band living in the heart of Williamsburg who arent doing the 80's revivalist thing, these guys make music while wearing animal costumes. And Avey Tare & Panda Bear ,the members* of this tiny urban ashram, take their secularism seriously. or maybe manically.
*(along with occasional 'members' Geologist and Scientist).

Prone to violent rapid outbursts of noise- (noise you can't always reconcile to specific instruments)- they're like a small cartoon band of native americans who got kicked out of the larger tribe because took the wrong kind of peyote.
When they're hypnotic, you're conscious of your own hypnosis, when they're joyful, it can almost get frightening. sure it's fun and jaunty, but cataclysmically so.
On songs like "Leaf House" and "We Tigers" you find them doing what they do best -incorporating ramshackle Chants (with a capital "C") into unconventional structures. The difference with them is their Chants don't sound forced or dulled like most bands- they sound sharp and purposeful.

I hear this is a great album in a bunch of reviews. I'll have to pick it up.

is good that you like the album and all, but the whole point of this thread is that we come up with write ups of our own, so I would appreciate it if you could avoid copying and pasting from other sources

thanks

Rufus Wainwright

Want Two.

The main thing to say about Rufus Wainwright is that he writes very good songs. a lot of people have classified him as "Pop" but in reality he is one of those few lucky performers who can easily outclass anyone trying to pin them down in a specific genre.
when you think you have the formula to his songs down he throws you such a curve ball that you sit there in awe wondering how come you missed that the first time you heard it.
yeah It's one of those albums that get better the more you listen to them.
my personal favorite is "Old ****es Diet" that starts like a slow wail into a plodding beat driven voyage that flourishes at the end with operatic magnificence......yes, I like this album a whole lot.

The Blood Brothers- Crimes

Better than Piano Island? YES! Their melodic grind is intoxicating. Best tracks are "Rats and Rats and Rats For Candy", "Feed Me To The Forest", and "Trash Flavored Trash".

To lazy to put any big write up...just download the album. It's worth your time.

I had to bump back this thread... I can honestly say this is one of my favorite threads I've made

so, let's get into bussiness:

I just downloaded Modest Mouse's The Moon Over Antartica

great album, much better than Good News... more dense, more depressing, yet much more uplifting, the arrengements are more laid back and subtle, but strong enough to pull you ito the songs

the music sometimes sounds dream-like and surrealistic and others vivd and filled with colors and textures, "The Cold Part" has got to be one of the best songs

Ladrytron
604
imagine what would you get if you mix Depeche Mode, Erause/Pet Shop Boys, old psychodelic music and Britney Spears and added some heroin to the mix, and that's kinda like what this album sounds like.
it's basically techno pop, with the added bonus of really intelligent songwritting and clever arrengements that breathe a very unique style into this group
perfect for late night parties, with enough 80's nostalgia thrown in the mix, one of the best dance albums I've heard
outstanding songs: "he took her to a movie", "jet age", "I'm with the pilots", "Ladybird"

Quicksand
Manic Depression
emo before it became a fad and nu metal before that term even existed
this now-defunct band from NY who happen to be contemporaries of Tool had possesed a very unique blend of metal, punk, grunge and lots of emotion
you want powerfull riffs? they're here, you want deep lyrics? check and overcheck, you want breakneck tempo swings that will make you stomp the mosh pit? they've got them is spades
it's a damn shame the band no longer exists
really cool tracks: "simpleton", "blister", "landmine spring", "torn on my side"
the whole things is great

more to come later
Oh ****! You like Ladytron too? I thought I was the only one. :D

since 2002, as a matter of fact I did a thread in mid 2002 about Ladytron and nobody understood what the hell I was talking about

Air's Moon Safari. With the likes of Massive Attack, The Cardigans or Morcheeba, they're highly enjoyable like their latest album, Talkie Walkie.

Badly Drawn Boy
