A band living in the heart of Williamsburg who arent doing the 80's revivalist thing, these guys make music while wearing animal costumes. And Avey Tare & Panda Bear ,the members* of this tiny urban ashram, take their secularism seriously. or maybe manically.
*(along with occasional 'members' Geologist and Scientist).
Prone to violent rapid outbursts of noise- (noise you can't always reconcile to specific instruments)- they're like a small cartoon band of native americans who got kicked out of the larger tribe because took the wrong kind of peyote.
When they're hypnotic, you're conscious of your own hypnosis, when they're joyful, it can almost get frightening. sure it's fun and jaunty, but cataclysmically so.
On songs like "Leaf House" and "We Tigers" you find them doing what they do best -incorporating ramshackle Chants (with a capital "C") into unconventional structures. The difference with them is their Chants don't sound forced or dulled like most bands- they sound sharp and purposeful.

PLAS said:is good that you like the album and all, but the whole point of this thread is that we come up with write ups of our own, so I would appreciate it if you could avoid copying and pasting from other sources
thanks

imagine what would you get if you mix Depeche Mode, Erause/Pet Shop Boys, old psychodelic music and Britney Spears and added some heroin to the mix, and that's kinda like what this album sounds like.
it's basically techno pop, with the added bonus of really intelligent songwritting and clever arrengements that breathe a very unique style into this group
perfect for late night parties, with enough 80's nostalgia thrown in the mix, one of the best dance albums I've heard
outstanding songs: "he took her to a movie", "jet age", "I'm with the pilots", "Ladybird"
Quicksand
Manic Depression
emo before it became a fad and nu metal before that term even existed
this now-defunct band from NY who happen to be contemporaries of Tool had possesed a very unique blend of metal, punk, grunge and lots of emotion
you want powerfull riffs? they're here, you want deep lyrics? check and overcheck, you want breakneck tempo swings that will make you stomp the mosh pit? they've got them is spades
it's a damn shame the band no longer exists
really cool tracks: "simpleton", "blister", "landmine spring", "torn on my side"
the whole things is great
more to come later

Sigur Ros is the kind of band you just can't say enough good things aboutGunBlade said:![]()
Air's Moon Safari. With the likes of Massive Attack, The Cardigans or Morcheeba, they're highly enjoyable like their latest album, Talkie Walkie.
Badly Drawn Boy
