finally, I got around to listen to Elliott Smith's From A Basement On The Hill, I got it last year or so, but had not haad the chance to actually sit down and listen to it, until nowç

what a beautiful album and what a shame that he could not complete it the way he wanted it done

still, a great, heartfelt album

^^ Amazing album

Maxïmo Park, The Magic Numbers, VHS or Beta, The Go! Team. Listen to them all now. You won't be disappointed.

yeah, like Elliot Smith committed "suicide" by "stabbing himself in the heart" !

We've got a lot of murderous rockstar girlfriends up here in Seattle. :(

Maybe it's good that I'm not playing out yet!

Great record.

I like Either/Or the best. And if you're interested in some more Elliott Smith, I have a link to a live bootleg dl...

An awesome, unsigned Bay Area band called Mouth To Mouth . Can't remember if I posted them in here or not already, so I am again on the off chance I haven't. :)

jag

I listened to the New Pornographers new album 3 times in a row the other day, it's really great:up:

also, sufjan stevens is awesome. is he a christian band? i thought that at first, but it may have just been the tone of the earlier songs. his song about the serial killer is eerie, yet beautiful

I'd like to recommend My Bloody Valentine's Loveless. Every song a masterpiece, it came out in '91 and may be the greatest album of the last 25 years. Kevin Shields is a guitar ****ing genius. Every song is layered and layered with guitars, synths, and who knows what else. To get different sounds he would use different guitar tunings and all kinds of effects. If you can tell what the hell they are saying on this album you should get a prize because I have no idea and have owned this album for about 10 years.

I seriously doubt there will ever be another album like this because of the time spent making this album, which I believe took about 2 years and almost bankrupted their record label, Creation(owned by Sony) because of all the time spent in the studio. If anyone has seen Lost In Translation, Shields did the soundtrack and there's a song from Loveless, "Sometimes" featured in it. I guess Sophia Coppola is a big fan and asked him to do it and he obliged.

Loveless reminds me a lot of my first college year in 93, good times

I am just listening to Takk, the new Sigur Ros album and guess what?

it's beyond description, it takes elements from Ágætis Byrjun and Von and makes a whole new kind of ambient-noise-angelic sounds

it's a complete departure from ( ), their last album... kinda like Mogwai, but not quite

lm sure you already know about the band HIM, but l love them...a lot. Especially their Love Metal album.

Beyond Redemption, The Sacrament, Buried Alive By Love, The Funeral of Hearts.

The new Rolling Stones album is great. So is the newest Dropkick Murphys album. I'd also like to recommend the band Donna The Buffalo.

Is the new Stones a d/l or a buy?

Another band I recommend: Opeth. They're either a death metal band with progressive tendencies, or a progressive band with death metal tendencies. All I can say is that they have the most unique sound I've heard. Their 8th album "Ghost Reveries" was released August 29. Their new label Roadrunner has a listening lounge, with a couple songs to listen to. Opeth Lounge

I know that album is available to stream in it's entirety, but I've yet to do so. Would you say it's more consistent than Ágætis Byrjun? By the way, I started a new indie rock thread, not knowing that you had this one. Sorry to invade your territory, but if you're interested it's right here.
